How to thank hospital staff?

I know a relative who wrote to the local press and the letter was very touching to all the staff

I work in a hospital and whilst cards and chocolates are lovely and very much appricated,the best thing was when a patient's relatives took the time to write to the Chief Executive, mentioning everyone that they'd come into contact with and their contribution.
