How to thank hospital staff?
Comments

That all sounds absolutely lovely, its so nice of you to go to so much effort.0

Just write a letter to the department and copy it to the complaint department. The hospital record complaints as much as plaudibles.0

I'm in and out of hospital all the time and on all occasions other than once when they nearly killed me, I have taken a big tin of chocolates and a card to the ward or OH has bought up with him on my last day. I usually keep a few tins in as well as biscuit boxes posh ones and thank you cards for occasions like this.To repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,requires brains!FEB GC/DIESEL £200/4 WEEKS0

I think that every one should be thankful to doctors and hospital teams for their service as they gives us extra hope and relief from our health problems.0

I was very impressed with the care when I had an operation last year. I wrote to the CEO of the Trust to compliment the whole team, naming names from my consultant to the amazing cleaner for the ward.
What a difference from the treatment my father had years ago, different hospital.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -
I work for the NHS and it's always lovely to hear from patients and relatives that they have been happy with their treatment. If you send a card or letter saying that you are happy (and especially why) that is the best thing.
Many people also send chocolates or biscuits and, while we are very grateful, looking around at my colleagues and myself we really don't need to get any larger!
Many thanks!

I'd recommend a card with a heartfelt message, and maybe chocolates if you want something extra, I think anything would be appreciated really!0

I work in an oncology ward and although we do get many boxes of sweets/chocolates the thing that I most appreciate and remember is a heartfelt letter of thanks.0

One other thing you could do is to send/take in a letter of thanks to the hosptials PALs team (Patient Advice and Liason Service) - they deal with both compliments and complaints and will send on your letter to all the relevant parties - as it would be quite a lot of work for you to send separate thank yous to theatres, ward staff, ICU etc.
At the hospital where I train (I'm a student nurse) all compliments get logged and recorded and are always really appreciated by staff.
Cakes and biscuits are of course appreciated too!0 -
It is so nice to hear that you remembered the ambulance crew! I am a nursing student and when I spoke to them, they told me they rarely receive a thank you card!! x2018 wins: Scottish weekend break, london weekend break and hotel chocolat hamper0
