1 for dispatch, anything i can do?

I probably know there is nothing i can do about this but it has me very annoyed.

dashboard has updated for this month so went for a check, had a low for dispatch.

checked it out using item numbers and discovered who it is.

It is someone I had to refund for non delivery.

They contacted me it had not arrived, i told them when it had been sent, they agreed to wait a little longer, they then came back to say still not received and i refunded (within 2 weeks of sending)

Item was bought on the sunday and I posted it on Monday! so because royal mail have lost it I have a 1 for dispatch, anything that can be done about it, she left positive feedback.
if i had known then what i know now

  • Unforrtunately, I don't think so.

I dispatch same day, or at best, within 24 hours, and yet my Dispatch star is at 4.8. I'm speechless really. Never had a negative feedback either. I don't know what more I could possibly do!

Its your job to get it to them safely. You didnt.

Once you have posted it then there is not much else you can do. Buyers do not always see it that way though. I bought it and i want it. I want it now also.

Unless you setup your own delivery service and hand deliver each item with a signature you can upload online for proof.

I bought something this morning paid before 6am. My postie came at 9am and the item i bought was not here. Maybe silly but im sure there are people out there that expect this level of service.

Yes I accepted thats its my responsibility to get the item to the buyer, this didnt happen hence they got a no quibble refund.

However arrival time is not the same as dispatch, i sent next possible day after a sunday purchase, hence feel the 1 for dispatch is unfair.

guess nothing can be done about it though!

The trouble is, a lot of buyers don't understand the difference between 'dispatch' and 'delivery':(

Ring her up and start screaming at her, you might frighten her into agreeing to change it.

To be fair I would do the same.

A refund doesnt fix the situation, its not all about ££. If someone has a non delivery they have the stress of it and wasted time waiting for it.

If a single low rating hurts you this much then invest in a reliable delivery service. Otherwise just move on.

I do but simply marking for dispatch speed is too much of a cop out for the seller, as I said in my own thread eg. I dont find quick dispatch with slow delivery acceptable yet the ebay rating system has no way to mark that. So I will personally treat dispatch as delivery speed on my ratings.

I tend to give 5 stars for next day, sometimes also for 2 days.

So unless your item arrives within 2 days of purchase you will not leave a 5*

Heaven help us all- I think that explains why we struggle with our stars if there is such a fundemental misunderstanding of the system amongst buyers generally.
