Cant fault parkrays, I grew up with them. All I remember is the water fizzing away every night and sweating buckets down stairs in the evenings when it was cranked up.... my step dad got free phurnacite as he was ex NCB ! lucky sod.
I'd be gob smacked if you didn't like it. Let us know how you go on with it.You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
Got someone to look at it who will help with the installation, and between them and the plumbers merchants, it comes to £162 for new glass, ash pit door, fire bars and bricks, rear protection plate etc.
The guy is going to throw it all together for free, and the plumber has said he will charge £60 in labout + parts, so I'm hoping to have it all done by the end of today, and also to use the circulation pump off my oil boiler to get it rigged.
I intend to totally rip out the oil - what a nuisance, and a con to people.
Was speaking to a neighbour who said her relative still has a parkray and won't part with it for all the tea in china - she also said her original parkray cost £6000 when she had it installed in the 80s or 90s! And amazingly I just got one as scrap.
Funny tho as my basic repairs to the stanley have mostly fixed the problem.0 -
Just don't burn all your carp on it this time. If you burn proper stuff instead of roasted logs direct from your oven like you were doing, it may actually stay intact and not end up killing everyone in the vicinity with the noxious fumes !0
