Is solar PV worth it?

Oh well, I guess I'll never know if the anti PV/FITs boys support renewable generation or not.
The Green Man (RIP) avoided answering me about 15 times, and Cardew has avoided answering me/anyone for 15 months.
Still, the sun's out and the PV is exporting like nobody's business. :j

We appear to have lost input from one member who decided that he or she had no need to abide by civilised standards of communication ! Perhaps this would be a good time to remind members of some basic Forum Etiquette ?
The MoneySavingExpert.com forum isa place to share info and tips with others, discuss MoneySaving and pick upways to save. We hope you'll enjoy it, but ask you to remember it's a broadchurch with many different types of people. Follow these basic rules to make ita good place to be.
[*]Please be nice to all MoneySavers : There's no such thing as a stupid question and, even if you disagree, courtesy helps.
[*]Please be sensitive : This may be a web forum, but you're still talking to other human beings. Repeatedly or harshly saying someone's wrong, especially on boards like DebtFreeWannabe, Bankruptcy or Benefits, can lead to upset.
We're proud that many people whose financial problems exacerbate mental health issues seek help in the forum, but this means you may be berating someone who's clinically depressed. Please think twice before posting judgmental comments.
[*]Don't feed the trolls : Sadly the web has a habit of throwing up a very small but vocal number of trolls, people who are nasty or contrary just to get a rise out of you. If someone's doing this, simply don't reply, just report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com. If you get involved and fling mud back, you risk being barred from using the forum too.
[*]Take care over copyright : Use excerpts and links rather than copying long text. This site asserts copyright on all comments posted on the board.
Here is today's challenge for everyone, if Cardew responds to your comments just simply ignore him, or better still put him on your ignore list so that you don't even see his messages.0 -

I don't think I'd go for a blanket ignore for anyone. But if anyone posts any message that doesn't appear to be relevant to the thread it's in, it's always worth posting a short note pointing that out or even hit the 'Report' button (shown at the foot of every posting).NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -

I would be absolutely delighted if you(and Martyn1981) put me on your ignore list.
The definition of a Troll is not someone who holds opposing views about a subject and is prepared to express those views.
In the case of PV/FIT there is a cabal of self-satisfied posters who apparently cannot tolerate any posts that hold a counter view. Some of their posts, like yours, are reminiscent of a gang of schoolchildren who urge each other to ignore someone.
Readers can decide for themself if they are members of that cabal.

Cardew, it's such a shame the Mods have removed the relevant posts of you whining and reporting someone accusing you of being someone else, when you did exactly the same thing to me not so long ago. I hope the hypocrisy isn't lost on everyone reading.0

I have no problems with that - providing any such information is relevant to the particular thread.
What Mr Green with envy was doing was to make postings that had no relevance to original subject and to attack anyone who pointed that out. Definition from 'Forum etiquette" seems pretty clear :-Trolls, people who are nasty or contrary just to get a rise out of you
No point anyone saying they prefer a different definition - that will just get the deserved response that they might prefer a different forum.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -

The sum total of your contributions to MSE is to attempt to stir up trouble and nothing to do with PV/FIT.
For the record, I most certainly have NEVER reported you for posting under a different name. If I had done so I would posted on here that I had reported you.
I think you might have confused me with another poster. Whilst I have no idea if he reported you and IIRC you were not named, but from my reading of his posts you fitted the bill. It also placed our Guru Martyn in a quandry and he stopped thanking you.0 -

To help us understand your dislike of this particular clean energy generation subsidy, it would be most helpful if you could first explain if you are pro renewables or not.
If you are pro renewables, you could then go on to explain how you would finance future generation, since you don't seem to agree with development and roll out being financed by energy consumers proportional to their consumption?
Any chance we can move this to either the 'solar PV good or bad' thread or the 'What should the UK energy policy for the next 25 years+be' thread? Otherwise debating such issues on 'innocent' threads could be construed as trolling.

Each to their own but personally I don't see much point in re-reading the same facile points post after post for years on end. I have better things to do.
The fact that the pro versus anti Solar PV FITs debate keeps rolling tediously on and on all over this forum is because people keep feeding the trolls.
Stop and they may just go away.0
