So why bother posting "There should be a cast-iron rule for all public policy: it must not discriminate against the poor. No tax or charge should be approved which transfers money from the poor to the rich." ?
Nobody reading that could possibly do anything to implement your ideas.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -

They could do what I did and refuse to go along with it.0 -

I came into this thread to see if it was worth getting solar pv. I had solar in the past to heat hot water and TBH it did very little to heat water for the house and so saved my family nothing and probably, all things considered, didn't do much for the environment.
I appreciate your frustration, From the thread title you're entitled to believe that you might find the answer to the question "Is solar PV worth it ?" here.
Alas, the thread (and several others along the same lines) has been hijacked by a troll with nothing better to do with his time than post silly messages about the direction government policy should be taking and haranguing the public spirited citizens who have reponded to the government requests.
The simple answer to your question is "Probably". A definitive answer needs a bit more input from you. You need to get a few quotes from SP installers to see how much a system would cost. You also need a good estimate of how much you would earn under whichever FIT rules are in force on the day you register the system.
Any potential installer should be able to advise on the latter point or for independent advice read the 'sticky' solar power FAQs at top of the Green & Ethical MoneySaving forum index and perhaps follow a few of the links therein.
When you've calculated a likely rate of return, compare that with whatever rate of return you're currently getting on your savings or would need to spend on a loan. You may also want to factor in something to allow for possible future interest changes. Final decision is then entirely up to you.
Good luck !NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -

And exactly who has that benefitted ?
"The poor" are still paying a levy on their electricity bills to fund the renewables incentive (and "the rich" are paying even more).
Since this is the Money Saving Expert forum, how much money would anyone else save by following that example ?NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -

It's so easily to accuse someone of being a 'troll' if they stand against your own opinion and refuse to be 'shouted down' even when set upon by a gang. I remind you of what this board is about:MSE_Martin wrote: »Sometimes going cheap can hurt the environment. This board's been set up to counter that. How do you live life the MoneySaving way, but protect our planet too?
As environmental issues impact right across our lives, the issue is of course duplicated elsewhere, such as organic food buying in MoneySaving Old Style. Yet my aim is this is a forum that will cover cost cutting and enviromentally friendly and also ethical financial issues too.
It's not just about saving money, but doing so in an ethical way.0 -

It's even easier to accuse someone of being a troll when they ignore the subject and continue to post irrelevant & inaccurate points.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -
What is the subject, which part of my post is irrelevent or inaccurate?0
