Hey !! who you calling an OP !!. But thank you. Its the facetime I want and a new phone so I thought I would combine the two.

Have you looked at the reconditioned iphones on the o2 website as they had some with a 24 month contract from memory.

I have an ipad and love, it yes could buy a cheaper tablet but happy to pay for the ipad and I too am able to use it to connect with family abroad.
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

Sorry, OP stands for "original poster". I use it when i can't remember the username i'm responding to.

I think if you need under 150 mins then the Ovivo deal will be good for you. Only thing i will say is that make sure you're connected to your home wi-fi when using facetime when your home. That way it won't use up your data allowance for 3G.

@grumbler, sorry! misread it. Thought he said he wanted 300 mins. But that was just the deal

OP says they already Facetime on wifi at home on an ipad so in that case don't need an iphone! :rotfl:

Does the Grand-daughter have to use Facetime? there are other apps such as good old Skype she could use her end. That means the op is free to pick almost any phone this end that can run Skype (even a posh one!). Op you could try it out on your ipads first.

Then its over to ZhugeEX who seems to be the 'contract maestro ;)' to see if they know anything tasty on offer.

Come on... Decent maybe, but not great.
Not all people are skint. Many people have money and can afford spending it on luxuries.

Decent/great whatever. My phone is a £50 T-mobile Vivacity and it's gorgeous.:) I have loads of apps and it does everything I could possibly want.

The OP said that he didn't know much about mobiles. That being the case, it was reasonable to ask if he had a good reason for wanting to pay over £500 rather than £50 for a smartphone. Some people just get iphones because they know someone who has one, rather than because they've identified some essential feature they need that other phone's don't have.

He's now said he wants to do Face Time (which is not available on androids), but there are alternatives.

What about Google+ Hangouts? It is a good alternative to Face Time as it allows android and iphone users to video chat. It is completely free (other than data/wifi) and allows up to 10 participants in a call.
