If they should have noticed then the dealer should have noticed and fixed it
Yup. The dealer 'should have' noticed it but didnt. As soon as they were made aware they sent someone out to fix it.
Thankfully the OP didn't take your advice and went back
Show me where i gave ANY advice BEFORE they had went back? Why are you misquoting me?
The OP should never have had to go back int he first place if the service was good.
The customer didnt have to go back, the dealer sent someone to them.
It would be an MOT failure.
Really?
Heres the MOT testers handbook regarding a windscreen and MOT. The scratch wasnt within Zone A so i dont believe there would have been a problem. Irrespective as the dealer sent someone out to fix it for her. Fair play to him.

wow ,
Hey guys , just to say I guess people have good and bad experiences with everything . Both of you have contributed towards increasing my knowledge and nothing should be assumed when buying a car .
The advise given here I think was quite useful re BMW 7 series , I shall buy from the dealer which hopefully will reduce the chances of buying a dud .
thanks guys0 -

But you berated the OP for not noticing. Why was that?

Second time in this thread I will hang you from your own petard.
From your link:
Scratches on the windscreen, i.e. light surface scratching, are not to be considered as damage. However, an area of concentrated scratching such as caused by the prolonged use of a defective wiper blade which obscures vision is to be considered a Reason for Rejection if it meets the fail criteria.
And the truth shall set you free Paul! You still don't get it. I had to quote you the same rules last time round!
As I said, shame you can't give out the good parts of your advice without having a hissy fit. Well done on quoting someone who agreed with you and ignoring everyone who agreed with me.
Glad it has helped a bit OP. I would say, as you can see from our dealer pal here - despite his claim last week he wasn't he's neither confirmed nor denied it even though he's been asked twice - you can't really trust a dealer.
They'll say anything to get you into a car and tart up something to make it look better than it might have done reading this thread.
What is does give you is more rights if it goes wrong. Look up the SOGA rules here, there are many threads. Important to remember your rights if the worst happens.
Good luck and enjoy the new motor. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0
