  • if all governments across the world came together and banned trading in something purely to protect their fiat, that would be a worrying time.

Worrying indeed, but it's not outside the realms of possibility. The precedent has already been set if you think about it, when was the last time you read an article in the mainstream media that didn't associate Bitcoin with illegal transactions or money laundering? Now that China has acted, I expect other governments may follow their lead

You'll probably get another chance when the US wakes up! I'm staying away for the timebeing.

Bitcoin never fails to entertain does it. From 1240 to 870 and back to 1099.

@happenstance: I think you missed your chance waiting on 824, it will all be over by the time US wakes up.

The market is waiting for a trigger, and even this false bad news was enough.

well 824 was just one of my orders, still managed to get 7% increase this morning after fees.

A couple more days of gains like that and it should just about cover the day I loose 50%.

    I use localbitcoins.com

You can purchase from any number of members, by a payment method that suits you (Bank Transfer, Pingit etc..). The vendor's bitcoins are held in Escrow by the site so there is no risk of them pocketing your cash and not sending the bitcoins.

The bitcoins are deposited into the localbitcoins wallet, which you are then free to send to a wallet of your choice (if you wish). If you are buying a considerable amount I would recommend moving the Bitcoins to a more secure wallet (or at the very least, select the dual factor authentication option on localbitcoins)
