nooooooo white screen problem
Options
Hi
Well i have had a perfect Nokia 6111 for over a year, without ANY problems but the last couple of days i have had the white screen problem
It can be okay and when i slide it up, white screen appears - cant see menu or anything
cant text (tho i dont need to see phone to text cos i know menu like back of ma hand - but stilll)
any idea what is wrong with it? I thought it might be the screen but i am not sure, and since it is over a year old, its out of warranty. Built in Feb 06.
nokia 6111
v 03.58
07-02-06
rm-82
(c)NMP
Ive tried taking battery out, etc... but no joy - so turned off screen saver and power saving - and it seems to have slowe d it down but its still happening.
I looked at getting another phone but it is something i can do without spending money on right now.
Any ideas? i hope it just needs a new screen but knowing my luck.....

its either the lcd (screen) which are expensive or the ribbon cable that links the 2 halfs of the phone together.
to me it sounds like the ribbon has gone. these are only about £3-£5 on ebay.
most nokia's have a 2yr warranty now i think0 -
I've done a bit of googling n it seems the ribbon cable connecting the screen the board is worn out by the sliding mechanism. Seems to be a common fault and since your out of warranty your !!!!!!ed! Though I did find the cable:

Thanks
Do you know if they are easy to fit? (i can build a pc blindfolded but not tried to with mobiles lol)Never do things tomorow when you can do them today.0 -
If you can build a pc, then shouldn't be a big problem. Worked with D500s which have the same problem, quite easy to fix.
Here you go, some instructions, no pictures I am afraid though.

Instructions are for replacing the LCD and ribbon, but that should give you an idea on how to get started with replacing the ribbon.0 -
Should be a doddle then! its like a smaller jigsaw puzzle, hardest part is removing the case... check out youtube for dismantle videos, or google it for a picture guide...SLC: £13000+

Is it a common problem in slider phones for this to happen?Never do things tomorow when you can do them today.0 -
Yes, it is. Usually caused by the ribbon coming loose due to extensive sliding. Nevertheless, it should never happen. I replaced about 20-30 ribbons in samsungs, that's how common the problem is.0
