Is there a PAYG that doesn't cut you off if you don't use/top up?

Because I pass on the industry info to educate, not provide you with proof. If you wish to find out - do your own homework. I can assure you, the networks were most unhappy at not being able to count PAYG mobiles with credit as active - but the regulator was having none of it.
Whilst in the spirit of you constantly being argumentative (and invariably wrong) what point are you actually arguing, that there is no requirement to block PAYG mobiles and the networks do it because they can (with only Orange playing fair)? If so, why did they change their terms to fall in line?0 -
The question is not about 'counting'. If Ofcom just doesn't allow counting such sims, nothing stops networks from not counting them while keeping active - because they make money from incoming calls/texts.
What's the point in 'doing my own homework' if countless examples for various networks prove that the alleged Ofcom requirement at least is being ignored in practice even if it really exists? It's like asking me to search for proofs that water has to freeze at -5C because it's 'industry info', while in practice it freezes at 0C.0 -
Some networks may reinstate your credit / number if you make a fuss, but not Vodafone. I have a very cheap mobile for emergencies when I can't get an Orange signal on my main phone. I was unaware of this rule and lost both my number an all the credit when I didn't make a call for some months.
With them there is no appeal against this legalised theft of your money and the inconvenience of changing the number should you get a new SIMSent from my abacus.0 -
I didn't make a call for over 6 months on my vodafone payg sim. I think the phone was limited so I could only make emergency calls and contact customer support.
When I contacted vodafone, I thought I might have trouble getting it fixed. But the helpful phone operative offered to add 2p to my balance, which renabled my sim and restored my original balance+2p. A friend also had the same experience when it happened to him.
So maybe it depends on how long the sim has been unused, if they have recycled the number, maybe it is too late and credit is lost as per the T&Cs.0 -

Sorry, I lost you at the second 'counting', that, and the double negatives.
What point are you making - are you saying that as OFCOM have no interest in the number of connected mobiles, and as such, networks can choose arbitrarily to keep a SIM active and benefit from revenue earning inbound calls?
It is impossible to tell. But your pal, thanking you for these incomprehensible missives must be getting commission by now.0 -

We are going round in circles (again).
I'm afraid that you are out of luck if you wish me to provide references of how/why the information I provide is culled. If my industry experience is not acceptable to you, then by all means feel free to seek out the defining legislation rather than your tiresome current ploy. My consultancy services are quite reasonable a £45ph and I have no problems with supplying the information you seek - providing you are willing to pay for it.
To point you in the general direction of mobile customer statistics, you can ask OFCOM directly on 0300 123 4000, where they may be helpful enough to explain the criteria used and why.0 -
