Is there a PAYG that doesn't cut you off if you don't use/top up?

When your father picks you up switch the phone on and call it, or call your phone with it. No need to answer. The number will then be seen to be in use.
I expect the disconnection is due to the limited supply of numbers and the low cost and disposability of payg sim cards.0 -

As above, you need to initiate a call or text, not just receive one.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
But the principle is good - switch the phone on whenever you visit and send a text with it (to yourself if necessary), it should only cost a few pence and would mean you could check it had credit and it was charged up.0

Where do you get this drivel from? Orange's terms and conditions for PAYG have stated very clearly for several years:
3.4 We will disconnect your Device if during the previous six months, you have not Registered a new Top Up or you have not made chargeable calls from your Device or received incoming calls on your Device.
Be disrespectful all you like - the fact you cannon see the wood for the trees is your problem, not mine.
The requirement for making a chargeable event to stay active is an OFCOM one, not Orange. The terms were wrong, and have now been amended to bring them into line with the rest of the industry.
Orange may MAY have been compliant - but only if they automatically ceased counting these SIM's as 'active' (the OFCOM requirement) in their mandatory quarterly returns of network connections. The benefit to them would be negligible in doing so as they still could not claim these additional SIMs as active on their network.
So, they either were providing misleading results, and massaging g their figures, or their T&C's were incorrect, and the SIMs were turned off anyway. As it happens, I had two PAYG SIMs with £1 credit that were turned off back in 2011. The shut--down requirement existed since the days of OFTEL, so my money is on the second option - their T&C's were wrong
Drivel? I tell it like it is.0 -
Confused as to why my rarely used mobile still works I checked and found this.
7. Our Rights to Bar or Disconnect Your Mobile Phone
7.1. If you do not make or receive a chargeable call at least once in any 6 month period your Mobile Phone will be disconnected and you will lose any remaining credits balance on your Account. If you wish to be re-connected after this time you will be given a new Mobile Phone number.
With O2 receiving a chargeable call keeps it live. I receive a lot of calls but make very few.

The problem is that unless you are abroad none of the calls your receive are chargeable.0

My O2 and Three SIMs (with zero credit) also remain active if they receive an incoming call every six months.0 -
Where is this stated? I can't find it in any of the documentation on Ofcom's web site.0
