Just make sure you move to a bank that doesn't employ humans, as all humans make mistakes. Work out what this has cost you and ensure they recompense you, although, so far, you've not described any loss at all, just a minor inconvenience0

This is the point.
I've made mistakes before now that's technically involved a breach of data protection (such as on one occasion, emailing a contract that hadn't had the names changed, as they're standard contracts), and the receiving person notified me when they noticed it was wrong, changed the name/address, printed, signed, dated, posted back.
Ok, this was a non-banking contract, but when I notified the original person, they suggested it wasn't a problem, and that the apology sufficed.
We still have both (large) contracts, so it's not a big deal.
My company banking details are public on one of the company websites (please sent payment to IBAN, XYZ Ltd, Registered Address, or cheques to Registered Address), so it's hardly a big deal.

i do find it amusing that when someone complains about a banks mistake the person is told to get over it and not to make a complaint and compensation. yet in another post when someone admits to going over the CC limit or other similar charges and incur a fee they are told to swallow the charge and accept it. when we open an account we agree to certain conditions which include fees if we make a mistake. If the bank has made a mistake its only fair they pay whatever the FOS has decided is a fair reasonable penalty.0

NW's B.I.R.O (Information risk officer) will be having a hard time over this.... It could cost them a lot. As this will have to be reported...
Unless the OP has lived at the address the details went to, then no matter what compensation will be heading in their direction.
Reason for the delay will be its not a quick process to find out where something went wrong.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
What letter? If it was to do with phone insurance they wouldn't have your bank details as it's done via a third party company. Natwest don't even print full account details on letters.I work for Natwest.0

FROM OP....I received a phone call from a chappie (fellow NATWEST customer) in Manchester who had my name, bank account number and sort code. It had been sent to him in a letter addressed to him!!!
Clearly they do......Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
and how would the person get the ops number?Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
