  • I know it's hard, but I'd suggest you try not to think about it too much. I'm sure you've brought them up to be as sensible as they can be. One of mine is down in Bristol for the weekend so I do understand. I'd second what you said about pre-teens being the best time but it's just another stage when they are young adults and possibly the most worrying time. I'm sure it will build your son;s confidence too. Please let us know when they arrive safely.

Hope they got back OK. Turns out it was probably a better day to travel yesterday than today. Here is a photo of the main road through our village, 20 miles from Leominster.....

Wow that is a crazy amount of snow. This is when I am thankful to live on the South Coast, we rarely get heavy snow. I am hoping the OPs kids got home safely.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

The council have worked really hard just to keep the one side of the road open. On Friday night we had 4 snowploughs through and have had gritters since then.

This morning was the first time I have ever needed to have my car towed off the car park in the village. The snow behind my car was 50cm deep!

Many thanks for all good wishes and support. Sorry to be so late getting back to you but had no internet......blasted weather lol!
They got back safe and sound, took much longer than normal as he sensibly took his time and stopped for regular breaks.
All we have to worry about now is if the weather is going to allow us to get away in the 4 day break we have planned for Easter.
