PC under attack?

Perhaps the heatsink has somehow become dislodged then. Make sure it's not wobbling all over and push down the levers for the heatsink.0

OK, have taken the Fan and Heat Sink off and cleaned but it wasn't too bad dust wise. Probably need to get some thermal paste as Gavin suggested but have put back as is for the time being.
Have left back off PC as I type and fan is going round OK (1196rpm apparently) but temperature remains around the 90c for the CPU.
Whats the AUX which is also a bit high at 52c?
Proppellerent, please can you advise how I might be able to reinstall the appropriate Intel Control Centre I uninstalled accidently? Is it important?
I think I need to go back to the right graphics driver too as the Intel one I uploaded has made the graphics slightly worse. Can you advise how can I get back to what I had before if possible?
Thanks for your continued help and patience0 -
I would assume the graphics card is part of the motherboard and not a separate one?
I would just go to the manufacturers website and get the driver from them or if you have the motherboard disc it should have the drivers on it.
When the pc boots up, go into Bios there should be a temperature monitor tool in there its usually one of the last options to look at and see what that says as well. you might be getting false readings from the program you are using to tell you the temp of the CPU.

I would also try this for telling you your cpu temp mine sits around the 30c mark0 -
Ok, I think I've sorted the graphics out via the Asus Support DVD so that's a relief.
I also loaded the ASUS Suite II which has a monitor/sensor facility and this shows the CPU at around 23c. However, I also looked on the Bios page and that shows a temperature hovering around the 45-48c
Then again, the 'Core Temp' software I downloaded shows the 4 Core temps at between 28 and 36c, hopefully that confirms the temperature is not as bad as first thought? Not sure if the Tj max = 98c is anything to worry about though?
Well, the good news is I havnt experienced any obvious problems with slowing up or hanging today at all, a bit surprising when Ive been delving into technical areas a bit above my technical knowledge.
The only problem I do have at the moment is I can't log in to my Virgin Media Email account, that starts loading but stops just before it completes the process, yet we can still access my wife's account without a problem? Not sure this has anything to do with my messing about with things, can't see why so will probably have to ctc Virgin Media directly I guess?
Thanks to you both for your continued input and support :T
PS Have just managed to sort email problem out somehow so that's one less thing to worry about0 -
Looks like your CPU fan is fine then, you can get different readings from different programs but. TJ max is just what the programs considers a no go area for your CPU I would expect most modern CPU's under max load to run around the 60/70c area with a stock cooler and a lot less with a more expensive 3rd party one.
I paid around the £65 mark for my cooler and it runs around 28-32c spinning at 1100rpm I tested mine for an hour with prime 95 (I have a AMD 965 BE quadcore running at 3.4ghz) the CPU never went above 51c.
But I have a well ventilated case as well running 7 fans saying that my system temp is always running at around 28c (probably down to poor cable management) looks like spaghetti junction total mess.
So if it happens again then we have to go back to the mem sticks and the PSU testing0
