It could also be a pin broken on the monitor lead - have you checked that?
Have you tried another monitor?

you will need to go into BIOS...it's an option as the PC boots up, and turn off the On board graphicsEx forum ambassador

should tell you as the initial screen comes up...top of the screen, sometimes F2, sometimes ESC...will often have another option F12 which is for restores etcEx forum ambassador
