i'm not even going to respond to your baiting. Its all you're waiting for so you can get a kick out of it and entertain your pointless existance. The person in the car infront was barely passing the car and you, again, decide to pass judgement on me calling me a 'speed demon'.
that's the second time you're decided that you know everything about me and my driving which just goes to indicate that you have the mental aptitude of a grape.

See, there's even proof of it.

Just trying to show you a different perspective.
Seriously, though, why do people who speed do it? It uses more petrol so costs more money. It's unnecessary and unwise. I think I heard somewhere too that on most journeys the speed of the vehicle has far less impact on the length of the journey time than the number of junctions involved, so they aren't actually getting to their destination that much quicker.
Is there an Aggressive/Macho Convention permanently on the go they have to get to?
I always wonder that when I see someone speeding.

to be honest when i exceed the speed limit it's because i'm driving at comfortable speed for the conditions. A lot of the time i don't even realise i'm over the speed limit as i don't check i just drive, i don't race through busy streets, i don't sit up the @rse of the car in front looking for a chance to over take, i'm just driving.

Can I ask if you have been caught speeding ? this is not a sarcastic question and I'm not going to be judgemental but it would be interesting either way know whether it has effected your driving.
It would be impossible to leave it to peoples disgression as to how comfortable a speed is to that individual, as you could be the safest driver in the world however when you add a speeder who is not so comfortable into the equation it brings a different set of results. In my opinion it is far better to have speed limits and for eveyone to stick to them, at least everyone knows where they stand then.

To all the people justifying the breaking of legally set speed limits, a question, would you do it if there was a marked police car following you,(assuming you bothered to look in your rear view mirror and saw it),or if the vehicle you where overtaking was a marked police car?

I am pretty sure the answer would be no, so why do it? don't forget, the car in front/behind could be an unmarked police car! Is it really worth it for the few seconds you will gain to risk the £60. fine and 3 points on your licence?

    :( How disappointing!
Oh well, at least there isn't some glamorous occasion us poor non-speeders are missing out on.:T

I love it on the A39 when there is a police car, the traffic speed slows to 60mph.
recently 50 cars were flashed by a speed camera on a stretch of the A39 which was speed reduced to 40mph for traffic works (new barnstaple by-pass). one excuse was "never saw the sign" there were 4 signs at intervals stating speed reduction. They got fined tough. The law is the law.

Death by speeding is caused by poor attention to road conditions and road signs, misjudgement of overtaking space, inability to control a car at that speed and ignorance of braking distances.

i've been stopped a few times, had 6 points on my license a while back (came off my insurance 2 years ago) and was stopped the other week.
It hasn't really affected my driving as like i said i don't even realise i'm going over the speed limit sometimes and when i do it's usually within 5mph or so. It's not a decision i make (apart from on the motorway) that i'm going to deliberately break the speed limit. I get in the car, start the ignition and drive.

    Why???

You could do all of the above and be within the speed limit. But that would be OK cos your not speeding??

Lack of concentration, if caught there could be a case of "Driving without Due care and attention".. for not paying attention to speed and speed limits!

that statement would also be correct if you removed death by speeding and replaced it with death on the roads. Going over the speed limit is travelling faster than the authorised speed for that area that you're in, it has nothing to do with poor attention or misjudgement or overtaking space or ability to control a car.
