FlexAccount online application

Options
I have just tried applying for a Nationwide Flexaccount online, it said that they could offer me a flexaccount but though it should be an instant decision the final screen just said that Nationwide needed to carry out further checks.

Has anyone else had this happen? Is it likely to be a no? I don't have any adverse information on credit files, no outstanding credit card balances or loans, I do have a credit card and mortgage. I'm mystified - any ideas what I have done wrong? I've had a cash builder account with them for 7 years.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies. Mr Silk - I am on the election roll, only lived at new address for 6 months, I was on the old electoral roll for the old address for 10 years.

This normally happens when acceptance is granted pretty much how their credit cards works with the 'final checks'

Chili1496 - Thanks for that, hope they sort your number out quickly. Perhaps the Nationwide don't like the look of me :)

BugsyBrowne - Thank you. I thought that the Nationwide just came up with a yes or no. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I have just applied for one and have only just moved to my new house today so am not on the electoral register. Albeit the mortgage for my new house is with nationwide so they have me on record - no bank accounts with them though. I got accepted straight away - think it is just a yes or no tbh. unless there's some discrepancy with info you provided? address or DOB maybe?

Thanks Shonzyd, congratulations on your new house, hope it is a very happy home for you :)

I guess we will have to wait and see what the Nationwide decide. I can't imagine that I made a mistake on my address or date of birth.

This happened to me, and it was because somehow my address got messed up. Instead of being:

    Miss Superhan
    1 My Street
    My Town
    XX1 1XX,

    It was:

    Miss Superhan
    Miss Superhan
    1 My Street
    My Town
    XX1 1XX

So my name was being checked as the first line of my address, and as such I was failing the electoral roll check.

Nationwide were very unhelpful in the situation, and twice I went in to branch to be told I did not have a good enough credit score, and that is why I wasn't able to open the account, without any one checking my application. I knew this wasn't true, and eventually went in to open a joint account, and was told immediately what the problem was and it was resolved.

If you don't hear anything soon, go ask in branch, and make sure somebody actually pulls your information up on a computer without fobbing you off!
