Which tablet? KIndle Fire or Google Nexus?

Well, I got myself a shiny new Nexus today but am having trouble setting it up. I googled help/troubleshooting and it says when the tablet is switched on for the first time I should have a welcome screen. It then says to swipe right and activate the menu but nothing happens when I do this. I just get the screen to connect to wi-fi or my wireless router but then it won't connect as I have "authentication problems". Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? It's probably something really simple but I'm not very good with techie stuff!:o0

As stated above a nexus does require a technical assistant. It appears you just found one.
It may help to find a local geek, the can be bribed with comics please see this link for a cheap supply.

Well I've tried every password/serial no I can find but still nothing. Rang Virgin Media and they said it's the number on my wireless router but have tried every number I can find on it and still nothing. According to google help I should get a welcome screen and go through the set up menu but every time I switch it on I only get the connect to wi-fi screen. Any ideas anyone? It keeps saying "authentication problem". Am beginning to wonder if someone has had this tablet before me!0

my parents had the same problem, Virgin media said their router was too old and replaced it for free. As soon as they did, the auto connect came up on the screen and it took a minute to set up.0

But in order from best to less than best.
Ipads:
Great, Easy to use, Great support, The apps all work... But EXPENSIVE (Though they hold there value)
Probably the best on the market. (Think the Jaguar / Rolls Royce / Porsche of the tablet market.)
Nexus:
Technically the best, Best bits inside (chips and the like)... But Not the easiest to use, the apps are not all top notch, NOT SECURE (Unless you have the computer skills to make it so, or someone to help)
Arguably the best value! (Think high end Japanese complicated street racers Skyline GTR etc)
Kindles:
Many have bet against these but they are still a contender though they lack the full variety of either of the above they are cheap, they are dependable. They are CHEAP.
Think they are the Dacia Sandero...
All the cheap knock offs....
The ones for £50 and the like, well... Take a risk.
What about samsungs? I thought they were susposed to be quite good?0 -
Thanks everyone! After an extremely expensive phone call to google in America followed by a long call to Virgin Media and eventually Belkin (I have a Belkin router) we sorted it! Apparently the password was held by Belkin - I wish the Nexus user guide that came in the box said more than "switch it on and enter password" or words to that effect. As a user guide it is useless!0

There is a book called Nexus for Dummies.....I've found it very useful as I'm hopeless with the techy stuff too

I know a few people who have the Kindle Fire and they are happy with it. Hope that helps!0
