Arguably the best value! (Think high end Japanese complicated street racers Skyline GTR etc)
Do you mind if ask what you mean by not secure?
I currently have a Blackberry Playbook, but am finding it frustratingly sluggish and unresponsive compared to my iPod Touch, so am thinking of replacing it with either a Nexus or iPad Mini.
I'm leaning towards the Nexus because of its technical superiority and price, but your comment about security worries me.0 -

It only took me a couple of minutes to set up facial recognition & a lock pattern to stop people from being able to quickly get in.
A quick search on Google Play found AVG Antivirus Free - not sure if I really need this but I like the anti-theft options it gives (ie: remote locating & locking etc).
What parts of it aren't secure?0 -
NOT SECURE (Unless you have the computer skills to make it so, or someone to help)
You can install anything from outside the App Store environment - unlike iDevices, you can 'sideload' applications. This is pretty much the same as installing apps on your computer. You can't do this by default on Android, and you have to enable it. This is certainly not what I would call 'not secure' and is more like crossing the road without mummy holding your hand. If you regularly install rubbish on your computer, you shouldn't enable sideloading.
Open Source: parts of Android are open source - the code is available to all to look at, take from and contribute to. Some people think that's a security risk - I think it's more secure than 1 company being in charge. Compare Firefox, Linux, LibreOffice, with Windows, OSX, iOS, Blackberry for security holes.
Or did I misinterpret not secure?
Also 'apps are not all top notch' applies to any app store these days!0 -
Google Nexus, quality is amazing.

I am looking at similar things just now. Such a lot to choose from, varying prices etc. too add to the confusion.
Hard to define what I want to use it for but I think the Nexus 10 might be the one for me.
I have a Kindle (two years old, the one that cost £149 or so) which I use to download and read books. I have a laptop but need to share that with OH who is on it a lot. I have a Samsung Galaxy 3 phone which is great for quickly checking things but I find it too small to type on, even when I enlarge the screen. I want it mainly for browsing (everything), shopping online, Ebay, emails and, occasionally watching tv although the Samsung is ok for that and I have Virgin tv upstairs and downstairs. Unlikely to need much access away from home as I am retired and can always use my phone if necessary when out and about.
Whatever I end up getting, it will need to last for a couple of years as I don't want to keep forking out for technology.0
