Which tablet? KIndle Fire or Google Nexus?

Looking to buy a tablet but must admit I know very little about them. Basically just want it for browsing the web, downloading books and a few games. The Kindle Fire and Google Nexus both seem good but are there any others out there I shood tabletsould be considering? Thought about I pad mini but it is a lot more expensive and don't know if it woud be worth the extra. Anyone seen any good offers on tablets? Thanks!

Nexus is a better spec than the Kindle. iPad is good for what it is but costly. It really depends what you want it for. I would go with the nexus every time.

Nexus 7 is standard, Kindle is not. Nexus 7 goes straight to the Google Play store, Kindle uses the Kindle store. Nexus 7 has better specs, and access to books through the Google Play store.
Unless you're a real bookworm and are mad about Amazon's ebooks, it has to be the Nexus IMO.

You can download the Amazon app on the Nexus and get their books that way too.

Another vote for the Nexus :) I got mine for Christmas and I love it.

I also have a Kindle (the original one) which I use solely for reading books and I love that too.......the best of both worlds :D
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

My daughters got a Nexus 7 and it's wonderful. I'd like one myself, but don't actually need one. I'd recommend over the Kindle Fire anyday.

As far as I was aware, you can't watch the BBCi-player on the Kindle. They do have a newer Kindle with a slightly larger screen but from what I can tell, it still doesn't have the i-player! Can't get over why they'd make this mistake twice but the Nexus does have it and apparently does better on all the reviews professionals have given the pair.

I have the Nexus, my daughter has the Kindle Fire, she ends up borrowing my Nexus to watch 4OD and ITV Player which she can't get on her tablet but she does have BBC iPlayer, which I Also have on my Nexus.

She uses my Nexus for games she can't get on her Fire too but her Fire doesn't have anything my Nexus doesn't, I have the Kindle app which is just as good as hers.

So for me, the Nexus wins hands down.

EDIT - You can stream Love Film movies on the Fire but not on the Nexus!!

But in order from best to less than best.

    Ipads:
Great, Easy to use, Great support, The apps all work... But EXPENSIVE (Though they hold there value)
Probably the best on the market. (Think the Jaguar / Rolls Royce / Porsche of the tablet market.)

    Nexus:
Technically the best, Best bits inside (chips and the like)... But Not the easiest to use, the apps are not all top notch, NOT SECURE (Unless you have the computer skills to make it so, or someone to help)
Arguably the best value! (Think high end Japanese complicated street racers Skyline GTR etc)

    Kindles:
Many have bet against these but they are still a contender though they lack the full variety of either of the above they are cheap, they are dependable. They are CHEAP.
Think they are the Dacia Sandero...

    All the cheap knock offs....
The ones for £50 and the like, well... Take a risk.
