Got over 1000 comics to sell. What should I do?

Hi All,
I have over a 1000 comics, mainly Marvel, consisting of titles like the X-Men including Cable, Wolverine, Uncanny X-Men, X-Men, the whole Age of Apocalypse series, Spiderman and some others, but mainly X-Men related titles.
I also have some DC titles like Superman, Batman and New Gods.
Basically I'd like to sell them, but at a decent price, as when I was buying them I was maybe spending £2 on each title back in the mid 90's to the early 2000's. Most are in pretty good nick and sealed in plastic wallets.
I tried to sell a few graphic novels on Ebay previously but people were winning my items at silly prices, like £1.30 when I originally bought them for maybe £8 and upwards.
Anybody got any ideas where I could get decent money for them or is it worth keeping them and seeing if they rise in value?
If I have posted in the wrong section forgive me, I'm new to the forums section of MSE. Cheers!
Thanks in advance for any of your comments, advice or ideas!!!!!!

Could you put a reserve on them so if they don't fetch what you want they don't sell. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

I suspect that comics are like DVD's high value items to start with that drop in value the longer the time since release....except the real rare ones.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0

The lowest reserve is £50 so not possible on a comic worth a few pence.
Op, getting back £1 or so back on a graphic novel that cost originally nearer £8 is actually not bad and it might be worth selling what you can while there's still a market. Comics, unless rare are unlikely to be worth more than 50p or so, and unless rare are probably worth selling off in bundles to keep the fees down.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You could also try local sci-fi/comic shops to see if they would take them off your hands?0

Your best bet is to try and sell the comic book sets by story arc. So say, issues #100-106 are one story, list them all together.
Do you have a list of what you're selling? I'm a big reader/collector and might be interested in a few bits myself.
There are also a few selling groups on Facebook that are worth joining if you can list what you've got. I'm a member of a Bristol one called "Comic Selling/Swapping, Bristol" and you could list up things there and post stuff out?0 -

If the comics were worth anything they would have sold for more than they did.
An item is only worth what someone will pay for it, not what you think they should pay.Lose is to not win......Loose is not tight......get it right!0 -
Try and sell them to a dealer, or book a table at a convention and sell them yourself, you might do well that way (for instance I spent £10 on a pristine edition of an Elvira comic recently at a convention).0

I don't have a list of the comics at the moment, they are just kept in a side cupboard in my room, but I'll take your advice and make a list of what I've got.Girlie Girl0 -
I think you are under the mis apprehension that because you paid 'X' for something in year .... it should then be worth 'Y' 10 years later.

I guess you are correct. I just assumed with the release of all these Marvel and DC blockbusters it would increase the demand or popularity of comic book characters like Wolverine and Batman, in terms of the comic book market.Girlie Girl0 -

Actually I will start selling them in bundles if I use Ebay again, as I was previously selling them individually and the fees were a real put off.Girlie Girl0
