Where did that free AMEX cashback card go?

Interesting.
I'm not a big spender (flights I pay with via debit card, since otherwise there's an administration fee), maybe something like £2000-3000 a year.
But I like the idea of having an AMEX more than a crappy Aqua
Though Aqua will get me more cashback, no?
Foursquare offers are ending on 31st March 2013
So not enough time to get one even :P
The current ones are ending. They'll load up more then.0 -
Their US cashback card seems to be a lot more generous - 3% back at supermarkets, 2% on petrol, 1% on everything else, with no annual fee.

Pity we can't apply0 -

Generally the interchange fees are much higher for merchants in the US, so some of this can be passed onto the customer.0 -

If you're spending £2-3k a year then the aqua will be better from a pure cashback point of view (although the Amex will almost match it in the first year due to the 5% intro bonus). However, you should get a significantly larger limit with Amex - I was given £6600 (I've heard it can be quite hard to actually spend a lot on an aqua due to silly limits like £250).
As has been said though, the foursquare deals put the amex far ahead of aqua assuming that you'd use them.0 -

The 4sq deals seem to be running out now though?
Also, doesn't having an Aqua card make you look like a cheapo to other people?0 -
Who cares whose logo is on your credit card - chances are that those sneering are earning 0% cashback. I'll keep my 3% thanks.0

You're right.
But Aqua is marketed toward people with bad credit :P0 -
They appear to have withdrawn the Aqua Cashback card in the last few days so this may be irrelevant, but:
You can beat the small limits on Aqua by using faster payments immediately after using the card that frees up your space again, although obviously you can't use it for purchases over the limit. A lot of people on here are reporting spending multiple times their limit each month by doing this.
And the Aqua card has no fees for paying in euros, so hotels and the like when abroad are as cheap as using the much-loved Halifax Clarity.0
