Brilliant, rarely seen a better piece of conflation.

If you can't see the difference between your examples I'm just glad I'm not your employer, though you have gained a limited notoriety on this site for some eccentric views.

Of course I can see the difference. I know that I have gone to the extreme with the examples. Just wondering where you draw the line as to who you would give your work number to?

Also, I'd love to know which of my views you deem to be eccentic, and of course, why you think that? Genuinely curious

Personally I always put my mobile number as work number on any forms on the basis that I am contactable on my mobile while at work, or a message can be left. The only purpose of a work number requirement in this day and age is for harassment purposes. Fair play that company's want their money but by harassing the punter at work they are also harassing the employer as shown here.

    Hi

I'm an Assitant manager at a Leisure Indusrty business, several of my staff are not in great finincial positions.
Some have taken out Payday loans and cannot payback, have defaulted so are getting harrased via phone.

They are very rude on the phone, and telling them this is a business line and staff cannot take personal calls does not stop them.

What can we do to stop these calls ?
Are these payday loan companies in breach of anything by doing this ?

I'm looking at what the empolyer can do stop them calling us.

What does the real boss think? The actual manager, I mean...

Or the HR department? With 140 branches you will definitely have one of those. They would also handle the sacking of any staff, not you.

Am I alone in thinking that the OP is just getting a bit of hassle from one or more lenders that he has used himself and has made up this scenario to try and get them off his back at work but is just too embarrassed to admit it on here?

EDIT: Oh, I found this post that you made earlier OP.

It is all making sense now.

I dont see such a big problem with Payday loans, I can only talk from my experiance with the Payday loan companies I've used.

In the past I have used

    Wonga
    Payday UK
    Txt Loan

Wonga - Like the advert says, I do like the slider system, before I took the loan I worked out my outgoings for the month I was going to have to pay it back, and used that info to decide what I could lend.
I then Paid back exactly the amount I was told it would cost, on the day I was told it would come out my bank.
The APR is not really a good measure for short term loans, so the 10000s% APR i ignore, and just work it out what it will cost.

Payday UK - I had to use this company a few years ago when my overdraft was withdrawn, similar to Wonga minus the slider system they were good.
Paid them back the amount and date was what I agreed on before I took the loan.

Txt Loan - I used text loan, at the closest I had come to getting out of control with payday lenders, a certain month there was unexpected costs, I used Text loan for the extra cash flow.
Once set up, sent a Txt, got my loan, and paid them back 15 days later. I just ensured it was after my payday.

Payday loans are useful and have there place, based on my experience I feel I was treated fairly, and would use the companies I listed above again.

Of course my intention is to not need them, having savings is the best way, but sometimes Thats not possible.

I have used payday loans...but never missed a payment with them.
So I have never had to face there debt collection.
When I applied though I gave my mobile number as my work number.
    CC1 - Owed £4500 ( Now owe £0)
    CC2 - Owed £4700 ( Now owe £0)
    CC3 - Owed £1800 (Now owe £0)
    CC4 - Owed £1500 (Now owe £0)
    CC5 - Owed £553 (now owe £0)

Problems from employees can interfere with workplace issues and it is important that when brought to the attention of a manager that this is dealt with in the correct way. As far as I can gather the OP has looked for specific help on how to stop the calls from the PDL companies and advice has been offered. There are slight disagreements on how it is best to manage the situation.

Some are more authoritative than others which isn't a bad or a good thing. Everyone is different! Personally I would offer helplines organisations that the employees should contact to seek advice regarding any debt problems. I would indicate that having PDL companies continually phone work lines is not something that can be sustained and my expectation is that this will subsequently stop. I would keep this personal and not delve or ask too deep in an employees financial affairs.
