When you apply for any loan, be it from a so called reputable lender or not, you supply your work phone number as well as other employment details.
Why not take a radical step of asking your employer which number to use in your application?

Your post demonstrates the difficulties facing Management. It's a very fine balance between achieving performance goals and allowing the lunatics to overtake the asylum.
You can't drive people too hard but you can't give them a free reign.

Some of the most successful Managers will have a fearful reputation of dismissals. Some of the best Managers to work for are in the Job Center queuing up for work after failing to deliver.

I don't think an expectation that employees will not bring these distractions to the workplace is too much to ask, but maybe it is for you afc80.....

There are two issues here and you have been told of te process, the employees need to deal with this to ensure that their personal problems don't impact on their work.

If they refuse to do this then it should be your job to manage them, if there is an adverse impact on the business then you need to deal with this in accordance with employment law, and if you don't then you may be subject to the same process.

If the staff paid back the money they borrowed at the agreed time would that not stop the calls or am I drifting into the realms of fantasy? They are not bankers are they because that could account for the problems our economy is in.

Does the OP run a business where they get paid for services and if so do they hassle creditors who won't pay up by calling and asking for payment?

As staff have abused the right to take personal calls on business phones perhaps refuse to foward personal calls telling the caller to ring staff at home or if they must interrupt their work use their mobile number.

Believe me not giving out your works phone number does not stop them, I had a staff member (I am not an employer) whose debt was sold on. They kept ringing my number constantly I told them they could not speak to her as she wasn't allowed private calls.

The next thing I knew they had found the number of another supervisor & started calling her. When that didn't work they started on management telling them it is a legal matter & despite several attempts, I had refused to allow them to speak to her.

There is no immediate way to stop the calls. The credit companies have your number as a contact and they don't care if it's a private or a business line. They just want paid.

If you think they're on the line then just hang up. Tell your staff to do the same every single time.

You don't know much about management, that's for sure! I take it you have a bit of a chip against management.

You aren't in school anymore, this business employs people so they make a profit for the company.

i manage a team of 10. If i acted like you do, productivity would reduce to next to nothing.

i suggest you start living in the real world. All Human beings unfortunately have problems outwith work which affect performance at work. Saying to staff, not to bring their problems to the workplace is great in a fantasy world. We live in the real world

How you deal with such issues will determine not only how your business performs but will also set examples to all your staff.

A happy workforce is a productive workforce. Some of the people on here would be horrendous to work for if in a position of authority.

Maybe, but if that was the case the company would be far better for it.

What do you do, sounds very public sector?
