The UK Parking Patrol Office

Recieved a notice from the above company with a charge for 'Dropping off/Picking up in a restricted area' in the roads around the airport. I'm a cab driver and was dropping passengers at the Hilton Hotel @ Newcastle Airport. The barrier to the hotel entrance was down and no one answered when I buzzed to gain entrance. I had no choice but to let the passengers out at the barrier. I then had to reverse back to get out. This is not a parking ticket as such but the company are demanding money. Is this legal?

What this is a pathetic attempt to force money from you, this should be ignored as its an impersonation of authority, the grandiose name of this company makes you think they an authority to issue penalties, they don't its that simple.

If the vehicle is yours and you're not a strapper just ignore is the best option, if its gone to your office and you are worried about the letters going to them, just pop the company an email saying you were responsible for the vehicle on that day, here is my name and address, I deny liability to your company, if you turn down this appeal I require a popla verification code within 35 days of this appeal.
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

They can ask you for anything Legally, even the fillings from your teeth.
They can sue you if you refuse.
But they wont win, because you dont owe them anything, it is an illegal penalty.
As said above, an impersonation of authority scam to give it a title, one that relies on mugs who get frightened easy paying them money.
Works as well, quite a few mugs do pay.
Ignore them, prepare for lots of stupid letters, pretending to be debt collectors and solicitors and they will give up.
    Be happy...;)

" UK Parking Patrol Office". What a grand sounding title for a tin-pot private parking company. Anyone would think they are trying to fool people into thinking they are some some of official body or agency.

It's not illegal but it's not a real fine either. I hope you are the registered keeper of the cab because the scammers will get data from the DVLA.

That "restricted area" (assuming it's on private land) has no basis in law.

Here is another very similar case in the same place this time with advice from a barrister that their 'fines' are unenforceable http://www.justanswer.com/uk-traffic-law/6728p-hello-i-received-fine-not-charge-parking.html
