It would be more helpful to the original poster if people started their posts with 'my experience of vista is....' or 'my mate's cousins mum's gardener says their experience of vista is....' just to add some perspective to it.
Statements like "Vista actually is just crap and eat a lot of resources" might be confused for fact rather than opinion.0 -
Wait for SP1 and you'll be waiting forever. MS has said that they're not doing Service Packs, and instead just giving small updates every so often.0

My girlfriend bought a PC with vista about a month ago, seems nice and stable so far. I can't say we've got any complaints apart from an old scanner and webcam not working.
From the research I've done online it seems to manage office tasks better, yet doesn't do too well on the framerates in games. So it depends what you use your computer for really.0 -

Ive just had a quick read through yours links.
The first one is talking about the "BETA" version of Vista. Not only that, most of the reviewers points are their personal preferences and not what "holes" are in Vista.
e.g from link:
"Would somebody please smack the person who thought that white Battery/Power and Volume icons were en vogue?"
The ReadyBoost tab should display information like “You’ve sped up your system by 10% by using ReadyBoost today.”
"Thank you for pseudo-updating the default selection of backgrounds / wallpapers. However, where’s the dual monitor support?"
"In the Start Menu, why does an empty folder cascade out to “(empty)”? If you’re going to do that, at least shade “(empty)” a light gray instead of black".
Why don’t I get a larger thumbnail preview of a document or image that I have on my desktop? Seriously, why? Is 128 MB of video RAM not enough?
"Why do the Volume dialog’s sliders have a boxy shadow behind them? Looks horrible."
“Search the Index” option in the Start Menu’s “Start Search” field - what Index? Who’s Index? What’s an Index?"
Is that just a few of the "holes" we talking about? the person goes on and on about ridiculous stuff.
The Second link, half of the points are its too expensive, it a rip-off of OS X, they dont like the UAC control.
The only real valid points is the incompatiblity but like everyone saying just check its compataible. but still not major holes of probrlms in that one as well.0 -

I think you've missed reading my earlier post. I got my information from June 2007 issue of PC Plus which contradicts what you say. What is your source for MS saying they aren't doing service packs?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Microsoft WILL be doing service packs, The first ones expected around October, November, but knowing Microsoft i wont say which year:D0

From Q&A interview with Bob Muglia, Microsoft's senior vice president for server and tools:
"Is the plan to have Longhorn Server and Windows Vista SP1 (Service Pack 1) ship at the same time next year?
That's the plan, to ship Longhorn and Vista SP1 simultaneously as it's one source code base. So, if you follow that model, you have to ship them both at roughly the same time. This time we had more integration to do post-Vista ship than we had hoped we would have, but we'll see how this plays out next time.""She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Ive got Vista Ultimate & XP on the same machine running off separate identical disks and the Vista is much Sloooooooooooower. The XP installation has far more apps & stuff and is like lightning. No Driver issues with the Vista its just one speed sluggish !
Shame but I shall use it for Vista only Apps.
Machine has 1gb ram"Didn't I try to Warn them I said !"
