Omg I am soooooo angry!!!

 Still not heard a decision on a statement of sen for my dd yet but today the duty social worker paid a visit to let me know that I still dont have a social worker and prob wont get one as there are no child protection issues and the budget doesnt allow for family support now. Anyway she spoke to all the children separately as normal and then myself and husband and she then filled me in on something which has left me speechless and angry grrrr.

Before a social worker pays a visit they ring the usual professionals to check how the child is doing and as usual they rang the school and spoke to the senco who told the social worker...... That she thinks there is absolutely nothing wrong with my dd and she has no problems, she then went on to say she thinks I may have munchausens syndrome whereby I make out my child is ill to get attention for myself. I am so angry I could scream.

For those of you who is unfamiliar with my situation, my dd is 14 yet functioning age 6-7, her levels are level 3's reading and spelling age 7, so far she has been diagnosed (by different professionals) with dyslexia, sensory processing disorder, pda (which is on the autistic spectrum) adhd and significant learning difficulties. She tried to kill herself last year due to high anxiety because of school and ended up in a mental health unit. She is now back at school and self harming as well as not eating due to being bullied and called fat (shes is age 7-8 clothes and far from fat)!!!

I tried to change her school and school ripped up the application then rang the other school to put them off so she wasnt accepted and no other school nearby has places. Over the last yr I have single handedly had to get the ep and camhs involved myself and set up a caf as school wouldnt do any of this. They give dd next to no help at school so I went to tribunal to try for a statement.

I have now firmly decided to home educate my dd as ive done all I can to get school to understand and help her but I am so angry at the latest remarks from senco and I truly believe it could be because of the fact that I highlighted her lies in the tribunal last week and she ran out of the court room crying.
Luckily the social worker spoke to camhs and the support worker who recently worked with my dd (who is a mental health worker) and they both laughed at the suggestion and told the social worker how much the school have let my dd down and that school is the problem and that no way have I any mental health issues. I am so angry though, can I make a complaint about the senco because this time she has gone too far, who would I complain to?

I'll be pleased to get my dd out of the school once and for all, I wish id have made the decision ages ago now. Sorry rant over now lol

What a terrible situation still teabag. The school sounds awful they haven't been supportive at all have they? Is it an option to go and see the school where you want DS to go to and explain the situation again?

I too would be angry, senco saying you've got munchausens because you upset her last week is just spiteful.

    Happy moneysaving all.

Very sorry to hear about your experiences and respect for keeping up the fight and doing extremely well under the circumstances and for your daughter.

Complaints against schools and their employees as the SENCO will be, are often tricky as you have to go first through all the internal measures right up to the Governors until you are even allowed to complain to somebody independent....that's what I know but that does not stop you to involve the Parent Partnership advisers who can support in going through the process

    Oh Teabag! ((((HUGS))))

The formal route is to the Head, the Governors and then the LA. Have you already formally complained to the Head about the blocking of the school application? If not then I would complain to the Head but copy the letter to the Chair of Governors and the LA. You'd then be following the formal complaints procedure but alerting the Governors and LA to what has been going on. If you have already complained and been ignored then I'd be writing to the Governors and copying the Head and LA.

Ring Parent Partnership tomorrow and enlist their help in writing.

It is people like this Senco who give the teaching proffession a bad name. They are in a position of trust and have a duty of care first and foremost to the child. As far as I am concerned though that must involve being honest and working with integrity at all times. To tell blatant lies and to run out of a court crying when these are exposed is unproffessional to the extreme.

Do make a complaint. The procedure would be to complain first to the Head, then the governors and if an acceptable resolution has not been found by then the next contact would be the LA. Make them listen to you teabag. I have read many of your threads and think you are a fantastic mum who has battled so hard to get what their child needs and deserves. I am so sorry to hear you are still getting nowhere with this school and continue to be treated so badly by them.

I understand how you feel. this is precisely why I am paying for my Aspergers granddaughter to receive therapy. Cahms have messed up her mind for too long.
Home ed her hun as long as it takes to find a school who 'understands' her issues.
have you joined a local group of parents with ADHD kids? they know the schools which cope best and the avenues to go down.

So sorry to hear that you and your DD have had to go through this. I'd like to just remind you that when you send the letter of deregistration to the school to keep a copy and post it recorded delivery. Given the school's history you need to keep a record that you have followed the correct procedures.

Enjoy your home ed journey you will have so much fun.

Teabag, you've experienced exactly why these so called professionals have too much power. A SENCO has no more understanding of Munchausen by proxy that you or I, however because they are a "Professional" their word carries some weight. Just be glad you had other professionals to back you up.

It makes me so mad to hear of situations such as this. My child's SENCO is just as bad - no doubt she'll have told someone I've got issues at some point because I've dared to challenge her appallingly unprofessional behaviour. In fact only last week she spoke to another professional about my child and said my child has barely any problems. This has meant the other team (which I've spent 6 months pleading with to get involved) has now decided not to do anything for my child, purely on the word of the school SENCO. I'm appalled. If only they'd offer my child an initial assessment, they'd see the issues for themselves.

I have no faith in the education system. I'm also Home educating. Started this week.

A lot of SENCOs are not teachers anyway. Ours isn't and she is beyond useless :(

Sorry to hear about your situation, Teabag, and I really hope you manage to get the support you need.

there should be a SEN manager at your LEA , i would be contacting them.

things are hard enough without having to fight every step of the way , we fought to get our dd statmented in 2010 now it looks like we will have to fight again to get funding for the SEN college thats perfect for her .

    good luck op.
