Thanks to you all and I feel quite privileged to be in on the inside news of smartie! Big congrats to you.

It does make my head spin when I start looking at them all but I'm not overly concerned with lasting past this child or resale value as I've said this is the last baby I have (can't deal with continued sickness and hip pain again!) so as long as it does the job for this baby for the next couple of years I'll be happy. :)

kindofagilr~ does your graco fold up smallish? Our old graco was a simple flat fold and took up the whole of the carboot which was what had sort of put me off another one.

fitzo~ Loola up seems to come highly recommended by quite alot of people when I've read reviews, just trying to find it at the right price (one that will please my husband anyway!)

smartie~ congratulations again, hope everything goes well with the pregnancy....even when I had DD just over 4yrs ago there wasn't half as much choice in different styles, forward facing/rear facing/seperate chassis etc etc!

csh~ your silver cross is lovely but the cost of my husbands heart attack at the cost of it might outweigh the benefits!

Anyone else have a partner who sees no problem with considering spending a small fortune on a TV or a PS3 but is only concerned with finding the cheapest baby equipment possible??

FWIW, if you are considering a travel system then I'd really recommend choosing one based on the car seat and not the rest of the "system". The pram/stroller may not be used for very long (if it's too heavy or if you need a twin stroller to accommodate a second child, etc) whereas the group 0+ car seat can last up to 12-15 months and might be re-used for a subsequent baby.

With hindsight, I'd have gone for something that uses a Maxi Cosi on an isofix base. I have a group 1 Maxi Cosi isofix for my eldest.

CSH - i have that pram too. My only gripe with it is that the chassis doesn;t fit in the boot of my Skoda so I have to hang it over the rear headrest on the seat next to my daughter. It is lovely and cosy though and very good quality.

These are the two I was choosing from

    http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Babies-R-Us/Travel-and-Pushchairs/Travel-Systems-and-Pushchairs/Travel-systems/Graco-Quattro-Tour-Travel-System-in-Ziggy-Zebra%280028424%29 £199

We went for the second one.

I think there should be enough of the travel system bashing, each to their own, everyone has their own reasons for wanting one.

For me it ticks all the boxes, for just over £200 I have everything I now need, I have the car seat which I can clip baby onto the pram if he is asleep, or I can transfer him into the pram without the car seat on, and it will last till he is 3, perfect if you ask me.

I personally dont get people who spend a fortune on prams etc

We had this for our first child, it was replaced by a maclaren Techno XLR which was then used with a recaro car seat for DS2. Still in lovely condition lifetime warranty on frame excellent buggy!

Also those that are specific on wanting a travel system - be careful leaving baby squashed up does no good to there spine x

    Whats not to get?!
You get what you pay for. I fully expect my pram*, to last 2 children and get a fairly decent resale after.

Being :money: isn't always buying the cheapest thing.
    Buy cheap, buy twice IMO

As I fully expect my travel system to last 2 children as well.

If you wanted that silver cross and can afford it then good for you :)

I just always wanted a travel system

OP it is kinda bulky, we have a bravo and it takes 3/4 of the boot up, there is still room for shopping though lol

I appreciate that it may not be practical for all - but I would recommend ebay for an old coach-built pram .... from the 1960s/70s! Then, babies were placed, facing mum, in a well-insulated vehicle, far about the traffic fumes, and mum would find it easy to push - and to carry a whole week's shopping on the tray underneath! And toddler could sit on top as well.

They are still available on ebay - or maybe in people's attics - and our houses weren't any bigger than today's homes.....

I've spotted four babies being transported in Silver Cross/Pedigree/Mothercare and Marmet prams locally ....turns out they are all related and the mums are using the prams that their mums used ....

We went for a Britax one which was excellent and served us well for daughter and is still serving us well for our son and will be given to Sister in Law for her baby when it arrives. We got it from this place

It was a previous season's colour so managed to get a good deal. If you not to fussy about colour etc. you can pick up some good bargains- I have also seen some good prices on Mothercare and Kiddicare websites.

I have my big old silver cross coach built (mine when a baby) and have used it for all 3 of mine so far, i have the toddler seat too and there is 14 months between my youngest 2 and it has been great, but its only used for round town or in my front room as a glorified moses basket on wheels x

Im a pramaholic and ive had loads of prams i spend alot of time buying selling and swapping them lol (aye sad i know but im happy) 'but i have now got what i call my perfect 3, my silver cross coach built for showing off, a phil and teds for when my youngest 2 both needed a buggy and now for dog walking with my boy while the other 2 are in school, and a petite zia, wonderfully light and nippy and lives in the car,

I also have a mamas and papas mpx pram in the loft that i really should whack on ebay (full system, carrycot, seat unit and car seat)

At the end of the day like on poster has suggested you need to take a day out and go into a pram shop and have a play with a few and see which one you like x
