With our old Graco I had to ask for help to get it in and out of the car the first time I went out on my own! I'd had a c-section and this was about 5weeks later when I'd finally got the all clear to drive, reached the shopping centre and couldn't lift it high enough to clear the lip of the boot!!

Don't think we have a clearance bargains (Northern Ireland never has any of those good places!) though a friend has told me about a shop that has been buying up stock from places that have closed down.....all a bit hit and miss on what they have but worth taking a look apparently.

Why a travel system?!! It is my biggest peave seeing a baby in a car seat being pushed around on the pram frame. That more baby with a undeveloped spine having done a car journey in a curved position is then kept like that around town then home again.
Get a 2 in 1 pram! Where the seat unit converts from pram to a seat unit. I love my mamas and papas skate. I am currently using a pushchair for my 4th baby and have owned 28 pushchairs in the last 7 years - i love them!
i hear often about gracos being heavy. I spotted one called a oyster in a magazine this week, a friend has seen it in the flesh and looks like it ticks all the boxes for being light, compact but does all the things a good pushchair should do.

I've just found this one on kiddicare,

    http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_74_10751_-1_14051_95375_10001_14051

It comes with a carrycot but you can also buy the cabriofix infant car seat to make it in to a travel system. The reviews seem to be really good on it and its not a bad price either. Also comes in red/pink colour as well :)

The travel system is because it really was a godsend with DD and I think even more so when I'm going to have school runs to do with this one in tow. I know the carseats aren't good for prolonged use but when DD was a baby she had severe reflux and the carseat was the only place she was kept in a position that meant she didn't projectile vomit every 2mins!

I do like the ones that convert from carrycot to pram seat as the carrycots can be a bit expensive to buy seperate when you might only get a few months out of them.

Have seem the oyster, I'd love to know what it's like in the flesh and how good it is in real life!

I have the silver cross 3d which is pretty good. It works as a travel system and has a carrycot/pram insert for when they're really little. Mind you I didn't end up using it as a travel system very often to be honest. If for no other reason than once ds was past a month old, as the car seat with him in it weighed a ton. Took me less time (and less msucle) to just get him out of it and into the pram bit. I also have a small car (peugeot 206 and a corsa- both 3 door) and it fits into the boot of both-just.

Am also 18 weeks pregnant by the way and now looking for a decent tandem pram so any hints would be great. really need a tandem and not just a board as ds will only be 16 months old when new baby is born.

 Wow, 16mths between them!! Sorry I'm sure you're sick of hearing that!!:rotfl:Congrats on the bump!

I've only really seen the phil and teds range but always think it looks a bit strange once the one underneath gets bigger and I'm guessing you need one that can be used as a double for awhile!
