Something else that I find really disturbing is the amount of people young and old that don't have basic cooking/food prep skills - was absolutely horrified several years ago when I was in the SM and a woman was in there with her daughter (approx 18 years old) and her mother (approx 70 years old) and it was just before Shrove Tuesday - and as usual all the SM's had special displays of all the ingredients and packs of "just add water/milk/egg". The SM had sold out of the "just add water/milk/egg" packs and the woman said to her mother and daughter "oh, what are we going to do for pancakes they haven't got any of the packs left, turned to her mum and said " what do you need to make them?", and to my horror the (approx 70 year old) said "I think it's flour, and eggs" but I'm not sure! She came from the generation where there was no ready made food - you had to make it yourself! I find that really scary.
That reminds me of when we had a very elderly lady living next door; I went outside to cut some herbs, and she asked what I was doing. I told her, and her reaction was to screw up her nose and say "eewwww - out of the dirty ground" as though she thought herbs grew in little polythene packets in the SM.:rotfl: Mr LW and I still laugh about that, and it must've been about eight years ago, at least; the lady in question was of a vintage who would most certainly have had to "dig for victory".:o

Talking of which, I'm going to take my courage in both hands and see what I can do about the back lawn; it's very long and rough, and will be difficult for Mary with her dodgy back legs if left.

    I may be some time......

Happy Birthday to flutterby and have a great day.

Went to weekly market for a tray of eggs and got some veg as well.

DD is in London today so made her boiled eggs for brekkie and will have something for her when she gets back tonight. DH finished of the veg soup and HM bread for his lunch and I treated myself and another dd to lunch on the way home.

No idea what to cook tonight - maybe a stir fry with LO ham and will try to use up leftovers from last night as well.

Picking up youngest from uni on Saturday :j and older dd comes home for Easter for a few days so really excited.

Lovely to see the sun coming out and can't wait for Spring.

  • animated-smileys-birthday-050.gifflutterby, you have been missed, is it because you have a new man in your life ;);)

Spent over an hour at the diabetic clinic this morning and had to have yet more tests, nurse wasn't happy and had to go and talk with a doctor so they have put me on an additional drug (sitagliptin) because my glucose levels still aren't normalising, but it is better that than being put on to insulin. She said maybe that was why I was feeling so rough, but made an appointment for me to see the doctor on 9th April and to have another the full set of blood tests on the 18th and then back to see her on 26th plus I have lost feeling in some parts of my feet so yet another hospital appointment is winging its way to me. Oh deep deep joy :(

Then we had to go shopping and Aldi was heaving, we usually like to get in there at 9.15am before the rush, but didn't get there until 10.50am, DH went to get birthday cards while I waited for my prescription to be filled so we didn't get home until 12.30am. We then had lunch and by the time I checked to see if any of the washing was dry it was 2.00pm

On that note I am off to check the washing again because it has gone very dark outside.

Just catching up on your posts. Dare i ask what Hestering is? Is it rude?:D

Well my day was interesting. Half way through my daily chores i decided to go out for the day. I went with the intention of looking for some imitation flowers for the Mother In Laws plot (but i went via the pet shop/garden centre and other places of interest :D).

I managed to catch up with my jobs as i was cooking our evening meal (ive still got to make the beds though and i'm tired).

Twas a good day, the pet shop was the best bit.:)
