O/S Daily Thursday 21March This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well”

Morning all
Happy First day Of Spring
Cheep,Cheep,
Weather chilly but not too bad here, Winter showers have been forecast for later on today,
Not too bad a sleep really, I got up at 4:00am But I fell back off In my chair For half an hour,
Don't feel tired or anything of the like this morning.
Quite day played here for me. My wife has work today but not until this afternoon.
The girls are off to my Mums and Dads after school, They have there dance lesson tonight so we are hoping that we will find out how they did in there exam.
Dinner last night was enjoyed my wife and I, The girls did not think much of what we had, We tried that new thing out of the river cottage every day veg book.
I will write about that later on today,
I Think some of you may enjoy trying it out.
Wrist feel quite good this morning but was hurting again last night when I went to bed, I'm still using deep heat on it a few times a day. I don't have the tube a grip on it any more.
It's takeing it time but getting better,
The new chicks have settled In well, I know that some of you have seen the photos on Facebook.
If anyone who is not my friend on Facebook and won't to add me. Then PM me and I will PM you back telling how to do it.
I really can not believe that the school has dumped them a week early.! What dose that teach the kids! board with the chicks now, let get rid and pain a pic of a train ?
I have to say I don't really agree with the Hatching of eggs In schools. I don't think it really should go on. There are plenty of Open Farms around now, Were the kids can go and look, My Own kids went to one last Easter with there pre school. And My wife and I along with the out laws too them to another one last May for a day out.
Both were within an half hours travel of were we live, Yes If you live in the middle of London It might be harder, But for vast parts of the country It is should be ok?
I don't know how much it cost our Kids school, But i know of one of these company's that run these Hatching program's That Charge £450 for the stuff that you need for Hatching the eggs and the Brooder that you need to keep the chicks alive for the first weeks of there life.
These good money to be made In it I tell ya, I could have set them up with all the stuff they needed for less than £200, They would have then owned the stuff too.
Still Iv had four free chicks out of it. So I should not moan. (but i will)
Enjoy Your day all,

Morning :hello:
Happy Birthday Flutterby :bdaycake:
Master tru bought me two chickens. They're 18 weeks old, I've called them Peggy and MillieThey immediately made themselves at home on Timmy's cage. The cage is left open all day, had to shut it a bit quick when I realised where they were heading. They've settled in with the other girls really well.
Still not much going on here, mr tru is home this week and getting in my way, lol. We've visited a couple of garden centres and I've got lots of crocheting done. Roll on next week, when I'll have the house to myself againBulletproof0 -
Morning everyone
Flutterby - Happy Birthday - hope you have a great day x
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Dull and cloudy, but dry - forecast said sunshine, was hoping to get some washing on the line, but doesn't look that promising - so will have to use the TD - the dirty wash basket is overflowing as didn't do any washes at the start of the week because the weather was so awful.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was chicken in sauce, mash, veg, and LO yorkshire puds, dessert was HM choc cake - menfolk enjoyed, I was good and had a diet yoghurt - have been trying really hard this week to be really good with my eating as had put a bit back on and didn't want it to get out of hand, accordingly to the scales this mornining I'm heading in the right direction and now mentally feel completely in the "zone" - so will use this to try to keep going - spring/summer is not that far away so this encourages me to be good. Have cut down on the alcohol and thinking this may be having an effect to - I mainly drink wine and it has so much sugar in it (even though I drink dry wine - but it is the only thing I do have (food/drink wise) so have just cut down. I wouldn't cut it out completely as I would not have any treats left! Not sure what we will be having for dinner tonight - need to sort that out. I'm doing the GC and looks like I'll be over budget so trying to be as frugal as possible. I have another week to go from tomorrow and only have £29 ish left - I have practically no meat in the fridge/freezers and the fridge is quite bare of staple ingredients, so it's going to be an interesting week foodwise! Want to give it a go to either be just below budget or only just over - have never been any closer than £15 over so will give this my best shot!
Have the normal list of chores to do, I'm going to the hairdressers first thing, then will pop into SM to organise dinner, will then come home and get stuck into the housework, washing, drying and ironing.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all and happy birthday to flutterby. Weak sunshine here, but very cold. I worked all day yesterday in an old farm outhouse...........I was frozen by the end of it! could not get thawed out. Today's work is from home, so I can stay at a reasonable temperature!
going to gym and to do a food shop, then settle down and get on with it. Although it's difficult to plan financially when you don't know when and how much you are going to be able to earn, I do like the contrasts of the really, really busy and the quieter times. I now have a much better work/life balance and trying to manage all the stuff that needs doing around my son is less stressful then when I was in full time work. OK I have to budget much more carefully and can't do a lot of what I used to, but it's worth it. I know I am very lucky to have that sort of freedom. If it hadn't been for my son's move into adult services i probably would still be working full time in the office. But the meetings and emergencies and paperwork just got too much to mix with office life.
It's hard to believe that my son will be 21 on Sunday! What a journey we've had! I am so proud of him I could burst.
no idea what I will be eating today.....need to get better at this food planning business. Yesterday I forgot to take anything with me to eat and only ate a banana all day until dinner time. not healthy.
hopefully my loveley friend is coming over to stay tonight....dinner and a lot of talking! Planning a roast pepper and butternut squash soup with bread and cheese, followed by a crumble.
Right.....it's time to get going.
Have as good a day as possible and hugs to all who like them.'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.' T S Eliot0 -
Morning All
Happy birthday to Flutterby.
Good luck on your first day Craigywv
LW my OH half would love to visit Bletchley Park his hobby is Ham Radio so right up his street.
Well sun is shining here but mighty cold Brrrrr first day of spring indeed!!
Well the pork stew I did in the slow cooker was lovely only ever used it once before after help from another thread on here and I must say after my second success it will be brought into service a lot more often.
I am quite tired myself this morning as babs decided it was play time at 3 this morning, did go back to sleep at about 4.
Not much in the way of HW today taking DS home, on the subject of stardrops though after positive advice on here I ordered a bottle from approved foods (why i have not herd of these before) again advice from another thread. If the figures are to be believed I have saved about £20 even with delivery costs.
Gong to visit friend the afternoon who has got a BM in her cupboard never used she said I my have it so could be another first for me, apart from the obvious "you know whats in it argument is it cost effective to make your own?
well see you all later the coffee is calling
Hugs and best wishes to all who need them0
