What Currency Barbados?

I agree. We found most things priced in US$. Nothing in Sterling.
It's hard to believe that people think like this.
Allow me to explain..... pay in BD$. Either by taking Sterling and changing it or withdrawing BD$ from an ATM with a non-charging card.
No need to bind yourself to US$ for any reason.0 -

Why would you buy currency to take with you at all? The days are long gone where it was not possible to use a card without being charged commissions. Move in to the 21st century.
They charges US$ to the idiots who have US$. You don't get a better price if you pay in US$.
thank you...yes i do have an ATM card although the OP asked about currency not cards...
go troll elsewhere...frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -
Ha there are some rude people on here..
This will be my 16th visit in 2 weeks, i am going to get married there, just trying to be helpful, unlike other no-it-alls that think they are right ALL of the time.
16 visits and you haven't learned a thing. More fool you.
You don't get a discount for paying in US$, so why would you waste your time and money converting?
Would you like me to do some simple sums for you?0 -

I see where you're coming from and my habits have changed as a result of the changes you mention. I carry very little currency around with me on holiday. For local purchases and convenience in Barbados however I would still carry a few US$ and some local currency. I'm talking of maybe US$500 in total for the entire holiday.0 -

If they've done 15 visits and they are comfortable with they way they manage their finances what's the problem?0 -
Some of the supposed ganja sellers are undercover plice officers and they will arrest you and throw you into jail for the rest of your holiday.
I don't know what you've been smoking but this is utter nonsense.
Bajan police are essentially uniformed officers, not very efficient and easy to spot a mile away.
Weed sellers are generally dread-locked and operate on public beaches.
The idea that a crack, undercover squad of drug-busters is out to catch tourists simply isn't true.
Taking all the usual precautions it's very easy to enjoy a nice smoke while on holiday and as it is primarily from Jamaica is good quality and not mind-bending skunk.

Did you purchase your trip via a travel agent? Smells that way.
This is a website dedicated to money saving. If some idiot wants to change their Sterling to US$ to spend in Barbados, they can. But it will not be the best value for money.
So, I advise on the best value for money and ignore the baa'ing from the surrounding sheep.0 -

Believe me, I have no qualms about how someone chooses to spend their money, but it would be remiss of me not to post the best value option on a website dedicated to saving money.
The general advice on the board is to obtain a card such as the Halifax Clarity, Metro Bank's debit and/or credit card or an N&P Gold Light account.
I don't understand why people feel the need to buy US$ to go to Barbados.0 -

Your honour.
Think what you want. I took my advice from the locals.0
