i just finished a knitting project and wanted to start another but the wool i like is so expensive! it would have been cheaper to buy a jumper :(

Yes, but would buying it be as much fun as making it?
& would you be prouder wearing something you made, rather than something you bought? Especially when everyone is approaching you telling you how wonderful it/you look?

I never knew there was so much to think about with showers.

I'm hoping our bowls season will finally start this weekend.
I'm also wondering whether to start planting seeds this weekend. If so, I need to go buy some compost...

. I am determined to use serious interlining which from experience i remember breaking sewing machine needles on before. sadly thats about all i really remember about sewing curtains and blinds, but i fully believe if i have done it once i can do it again. .

When making interlined curtains I machine sew the interlining widths together however hand sew them onto the curtain material so that they lay flat. I usually hand sew the side seams and hems to the interlining too. Oddly I find it quite soothing. No idea why.

I've never had lined curtains, we didn't have them when growing up either. In fact, in the 60s/70s one trend was for fibreglass curtains. We had those. Over the years, where furniture was up against them, they split at that point. We were warned not to touch the curtains because we'd get glass fibres in our fingers and cut ourselves.

I've had lined curtains, but not interlined.

Some of my friends got curtains with pelmets and swags and tails and curly things years ago. Not my thing, I like plain curtains.

In the time-honoured tradition of leaving things to the last minute,

I can beat you, I'm on hold to Tesco ISA line, their line closes at 10pm and I have to transfer funds in before then or lose the cash ISA for this year.

Managed to open the account completely online, butfunds can only be transferred by debit card at this late stage. Too late even for faster payments with online banking. Currently been on hold 23 minutes, apparently I should be "pleased to know I am moving forward in the queue."

This is attempt 2, attempt 1 was to open a Coventry account, succeeded only to find they won't take transfers today - even from other Coventry accounts. That wasted half an hour.

if you have an isa already perhaps you can put the money in there by fp Martin Lewis just suggest use your on bank if it is hsbc or similar to get the money in then switch to a better rate later.

I have some at 5% instant access fixed for another 2 years and the rest will probably stay in Santander even though the rate is dropping to 2.5% from 3.3%, For DW we went for FD earlier this week as she can get 3% down from 3.5%. I can't believe I missed the nationwide 4.25% last year.
    I think....

Just watching an article about the British Library capturing websites as well as books. Apparently (Pastures no doubt knows this) the lifespan of the average webpage is 75 days.

I don't make anything of shop-quality :o I'm a half decent knitter, not super talented, so it's mostly to keep me from endlessly surfing the internet.
