That's what I think one minute. Then I think, two inches spare room appearing in clothes is exciting, and two inches too small is noticed uncomfortably.0 -

How much difference in width practically would 50 mm make? I have found one that's stylish but not brilliantly comfortable looking that's the right length and extra deep ( so the right depth) but 800mm not 850mm wide. Architect is suggesting making a bath on site to fill the gap but seems excessively princessy to me. I just dunno.
Bath and shower heads still to decide (we're having an over head and a hand held in the shower) and then I've chosen All the bathroom fittings.
next is wood panneling styles and two bathroom safe wall lights (i can hardly bear the idea of looking atm) and paint colours which I can do afterwards.
What does the 850mm need to fit with?0 -
What does the 850mm need to fit with?
1700 long and extra deep. No tap holes, central waste. No handle bars or funky swirly indents, just plain oval built in bath tub. Nearest we have found is squared and is this

They do an oval but its narrower.

It makes a difference if you have an elderly relative / disabled relative who might need a hoist or handrail fitted.
Most baths I've been in are just baths - er, never been in a bath that didn't fitSo I think the 800mm one is going to be fine.

Sorry, my bad wording - why do you want 850mm rather than 800? Is it to fit in a specific gap or just that you know that you want a bath that wide?0 -

Because wider is always better. More expensive to fill, certainly, but more luxurious for two. We really, really miss our end of the day beginning of the evening baths. So much happens there that is important, almost spiritual in our relationship, an almost ritual of bathing, a celebration of relaxing and luxuriating.
If we were a different couple, or for another couple moving here, or for our visiting family, it might be the bath that one sat in with one's children too....it's got to be practical, more practical perhaps than an ensuite master bathroom, but luxurious and practical can go hand in hand.
It's the biggest gap we can create in that main bathroom.
Tbh, I think the Ben de lisi bath is going to win. It's just not worth building a bath on site for two inches. What we should do is make a bath out of card board and see how we feel, but the space is what it is, I cannot believe it will make that much difference tbh.0 -

Been in many with other people? Our bath fits both of us but we don't much trust the floor joists, We've even squeezed in a hip bath type thing the two of us, I wouldn't choose the experience when fitting bathroom though.
Would save loads on hot water bills though! You'd only need a bucket full or two.0 -

I love that bathroom. I wish we could have something like that! We're gong for the very budget fitted version of that. In more acceptable white0 -
Seems to be plenty of 1700 x 900 baths online, or 850x1750 like this one...

Is there a way to adjust the surrounding room to make something close fit?“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

That's a beautiful bath.p Hamish And if it were fitted one the measure ments would be great. Ours cannot be freestanding.. I have been googling for days with the measurements and not getting much.
The nest room is a corridor and its going to be long and narrow. Thinking about things like getting furniture down it, and just lay out I'm really loathe to make the bathroom wider. Extra deep was our compromise for going only 1700.:)0
