Yesterday a chum from green fingered sent me flowers, today someone else has, I could get used to daily flower deliveries!

Lovely gestures. Hope you are doing OK.

Thank you silvercar, honestly, I am fine. It's different from when special girl went. Totally different. Sad, but right. :)

PROGRESS with the arbitrators to day, who have agreed that ' it doesn't sound good' for the company, and that they want to enable to achieve our goal of the thing out and settling out of court because they feel in their words it reflects poorly on them too. (Too darn right) and perhaps most importantly, the file we submitted is going to be very compelling when it comes time to review the mcs status of registration of that company. (Vital, as it means that company cannot do the work for renewable heat incentive subsidies themselves).

Viva told me once that you can join many libraries for e-books.... you don't have to live in the county. And it's true, I did apply to one and get a card. You'll have to find which ones allow it.
Thanks - I've just registered online with the borough I lived in before and it's in a consortium, with half the boroughs of London. Will see when I get a card and will also register in the borough where I work,;)

I've had three lots of flowers in my life:
1] In 1975, the fat/desperate/sweaty boy from a club I belonged to sent a proper bouquet for Valentine's Day.
2] In 1997 a female boss picked some daffs from her garden for me.
3] In 2013 a NP gave me some daffs when we met up

    :)

So they're getting more frequent :)

I've had flowers bought by non-immediate family members three times (have a feeling I've told these stories before :)):
    1. Ex randomly bought me a nice bunch of flowers. Then went out for the night without me (nothing unusual so far), didn't come home for the night (hmmm) and a few weeks later tried to go on a date (day out at the London Aquarium, I'd taken him to previously) with a friend of a friend who he met that night.

    2. Team leader for the census, an older man whose house smelt very strongly of dog (we had out team meeting there, felt like you needed a good scrub afterwards). We all had to go and hand back our kit, ID badges etc. I purposely timed it for when I know other people would be there. He asked me to go into the hall away from everyone (I kept a close eye on the front door) and he handed me the most tragic looking bunch of petrol station flowers I've ever seen. I'm not a fan of chrysanthemums at the best of times. This is the man who also hand delivered a birthday card to me (birthday was during the census work) - I didn't tell him when my birthday was  After the flower incident I did call the HR hotline to let them know I was very uncomfortable, just in case anything else happened (he had also been trying to take me for a 'thank you' drink...).

    3. Last year, a couple of months after moving back to my parents' house, my ex sent me flowers. I told him I'd rather have the cash towards paying back what he owed me.

I love having flowers, but prefer buying my own (with a yellow sticker, of course) :)

Umbria - Orvieto. Lovely food, wine, rural charm & rustic.
Lucca in Tuscany - all of the above and close to Florence
If you're Scottish and go to Tuscany be sure to visit Barga.

It's where all the Iannuccis, Capaldis, Zavafronis, Paolozzis, Vettrianos, Coias, Marzarolis, Nutinins, Spiteris etc. all hail from.

I meant it! I wasn't in paid employment, and he must have spend at least £30 whilst owing me £thousands. That and I couldn't exactly hide them from my parents, but I didn't want them to think I was even slightly thinking of getting back with him. I doubt I'll ever be so cross to receive flowers again!

When I was in Russia (admittedly, some time ago - it was in the summer of 1999) "customer service" just didn't exist.

We had a visa problem - at the time, you needed to be invited to Russia by someone in order to get a visa. .

My OH has an invitation for his visa

    Cutting it fine.

DS1 has a weekend away, flying out of Gatwick tonight.

I tell him to leave work early, but he doesn't like to ask. Rushes to Victoria and gets on the slow train by mistake. Texts me that he is going to get to Gatwick 6 minutes before gate closes. Thanks to rail app on iPad and that he sent the text just before he reached Croydon, I can direct him to change trains.

So he is due 20 mins before gate closure.

Tell him he has to rush his way through security and hope they let him through..

He gets from train through security in 6 minutes, airport virtually empty.

Phew! I have a few more grey hairs!

Hope he makes it in time!

When I lived near Heathrow I was flying to a conference. Thought I could get the bus, then realised the bus didn't go to terminal 3 (I think). Ended up getting off the bus at a nearby hotel. Spent a bit of time looking for a bus to T3, panicked a bit when I couldn't find one, then ended up getting one of the hotels to get me a taxi. I'd left it quite late to get the bus in the first place anyway, so by the time I got to the terminal, they we about 30 seconds from shutting the gate. Managed to get checked in, then had to run through the terminal. After going through security I didn't even have time to shut my bag (containing laptop as I was giving a talk), or put belt back on before I continued my jog.
They called out my name over the tannoy too (which was quite amusing as people struggle with my unusual surname. And I did make it onto the plane, and into my seat next to some colleagues who thought I was completely mad.
When we got to the other end my luggage appeared at baggage reclaim a good hour after everyone elses. It had all my smart stuff for presenting the next day and I was getting quite worried that I would have to go emergency shopping (it was only a short flight so the adrenaline from the jog through the airport was probably still knocking around).
I did temporarily forget my pre-presentation nerves though :rotfl:
