Looking for rustic, rural charm, lots of cheap (although preferably drinkable) wine and good food, and sunshine.
Somewhere in Europe.
Hoping the Nice People can pool their ideas and suggest somewhere tempting?
Somewhere in Bulgaria, not including Sofia. Or Romania, not including Budapest....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

They certainly never have conversations with people, in fact most of the time they look blank and disengaged... and seem to be doing lots of monotonous work very slowly.0 -

Oh, at our library I have the opposite problem, and one of the reasons I have dropped off going, is the really lovely librarian who makes a beeline for me when all I want to do is browse in piece. She's so nice I don't want to hurt her feeling by being too frosty, and I bet she's great for most people...but she will keep making suggestions and that's not really how I choose books....my method is more like dowsing:D0 -

The Maldives
I can't really help as I hardly ever go to Europe these days for anything other than skiing and irritating stag dos.
I did go to a very nice wine appellation in the south of France last year http://domainesaint-hilaire.com/index. It was rustic with rural charm and there was lots of wine. I thought the (English) owners were a little stuffy though. Not really a place for more than a couple of days either.0 -
Some european Islands? Canaries? Sardinia? Wasn't allthesses in Malta recently?Azores? Madeira?
Enjoyed Crete recently. Prices aren't coming down for dining out but the free desserts, liqueurs etc. they add make it great value. Actually after your recent posts about watching what you eat, maybe that's not such a good suggestion. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I know, I know, but I was craving them so badly. And that us why I had to go out.......we didn't have any. You know when you fancy something and nothing else will do? That was sprouts yesterday and today......
They were delicious.
I am kind of wondering if I Might have more for breakfast0 -
No, just typing to fast. So if his name was James (which its not) I typed Jamse. Would probably not be noticed, but too risky not to sort.
OH has Visa for Russia in his passport. He was recently travelling via Moscow and his name had been mis-spelt on his booking. He expected a long wait at the counter and a lot of problems with Aeroflot. They were extremely helpful and arranged changed booking details to smooth his journey throughout.
Another negative sterotype busted.0
