You seem to be unhappy with your lifestyle so perhaps I]trying a new strategy[/I might be a good thing. At the moment PN seems more or less trapped where she is, so what she needs IMHO is to find a way to increase her income where she is...PasturesNew wrote: »I've just had a quick look within one subject of interest ....
For 3 hours' work .... call it a whole day as there'll then be lots of wasted time "looking at it" online, seeing where it's being linked from (if at all), working out where I can link to it from .... so, say I can churn out one per day of good clean quality, and say I could understand the charging/rules there .... so I'd get 50p per item I'd need to flog just 100 to make it worthwhile. £50 = £7/hour.
That's actually quite a lot isn't it ...... but I guess it's a long-haul game. Write it once, then it's up there....
I guess my individual items could sell into collections.... so, once I've done a few dozen I could then sell collections of 5-10 to see if that does well.
PN, do it. Even if it takes a week to do the first one. Even if the first one isn't very good and doesn't sell very well. You'll get better at it as you go along, and it really doesn't sound as though you're going to get anywhere much with your old type of stuff now that Google's rules have changed.
Gen is right in principle. You are stuck, and you need to make a change. I get it that moving countries isn't for you, but moving from articles to Kindle books should be within both your skill set and your comfort zone, more or less. It has to be worth a try, surely??Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I think I've decided... so long as the self-confidence doesn't get me ..... I'll work out what to put together, then do it. For my subject I am limited by what I've got here right now, but should be able to do something ..... then after the first one it gets easier .... right?
if I can write over 400 articles that have had nearly 2,000,000 visitors .... I can bang out some great books, eh!
Off to the shops now, to stock up on fizzy pop - need fizzy pop at 4am when you're on a roll.0 -

Yay! Sounds like an excellent plan.
Send me a link to your first book when you've done it, and I'll buy it, whatever it's about.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? WE wanted a 'party' style gazebo so I have had a watch out on ebay. Recently I bought a set of 3 'customer returns' which the seller thought would make one good gazebo between them.
Customers have a lot of front is all I can say, we have just put together the first one which did go together but was obviously returned because the event for which it had been purchased had happened and the customer thought that the box was still good enough that they could take it back but it has clearly been considerably used.....I think....0 -
Don't charge less than $2.99 for any book you write. That's very important. Your competator is making a big mistake. ( because of royalty differences, you make 6 times more from a book at $2.99 than $.99, and sell just as many copies)
Most of the time, for most nonfiction ebooks, should be in the $5 and up range if they are decent sized.
Also, you don't need links to do well...“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Similar situation here. She expects everything to be dropped and 3 day visits all the time. Today I reminded her that I was there week before last, but apparently I wasn't asked to go then, whereas now she is asking me. Sigh. Couple with comments that she won't be around for long, so its not unreasonable to drop everything and run.
And comments that I could easily work from hers, so there is no reason not to be there.
A number of health issues have surfaced which I'm puzzled why they can all occur at the same time. They are all minor and make life uncomfortable, but nothing that is going to be life threatening.
And she won't take all her medication.

Stunning day here, not a cloud, and bright blue skies with frequent noisy red dots.
Had a barbecue for lunch.
Can't say I like sitting outside and grilling food over charcoal.
Don't get it.
Mrs McT was happy about it though, and enjoyed it immensely, so that's good.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Just had a posh ready meal.... never had one that expensive before. It was £3.50, but in the reduced section at £1.75, so I splashed out as a treat. Mr S Chinese chicken curry/rice. It was a lot nicer than the £0.80-£1 ones I've had in the past. .... but at £1.75, or £3.50, they can keep it! A nice treat, but it won't be on the "must have" list.0

Again have that whole section of books under 2.99. I would have thought its a good break point to start at to try at that price to get in that low section?0
