Wow, that is an achievement; it's taken us a decade, and every time one bit of junk goes away another ends up in its place.

I am a minimalist at heart but live with maximalists and they win :(
Sub-divide your house to give you a studio flat .... where you can be minimal .... and step through an adjoining door into their mayhem when you can face it :)

I'm afraid that the house just isn't large enough:( It's the downside of smallholding in kent... lots of land but small house.

Would really like to knock place down and rebuild it, since it has a long list of problems, but it's an AONB and SSSI, which means maybe if you turn wildershins round a churchyard at midnight and sacrifice a chicken, you might be allowed to build a conservatory.

Oh, you've a smallholding.... caravan in the garden then :)

I never understand when, on Grand Designs, people move into a mobile home on site and then say how utterly miserable and cold it was.... and they were suffering. I think "grow a backbone, plenty of people get to live in those as a treat and are grateful they have their own home - without the joy of looking at a £1million house appearing in the garden!"

You can't live in a caravan without planning permission, and AONB, SSSI, gimpy neighbours who would complain in a second if I tried it...

Yeah, what are they whinging about :D

Honestly, I really didn't used to mind the cold and I think roughing it to a degree goes with the territory. But this year has been tough, really tough.

Today shows the true amazing cold qualities of this house, the east side the wood burner is going and parent is grateful for it, and pink whistley is sleeping in there now. West side, the French windows and windows are open while the warmth shines in.

You can use it as ancillary accommodation, so long as you're bathing/cooking/eating in the house it's ancillary.

Just had a posh ready meal.... never had one that expensive before. It was £3.50, but in the reduced section at £1.75, so I splashed out as a treat. Mr S Chinese chicken curry/rice. It was a lot nicer than the £0.80-£1 ones I've had in the past. .... but at £1.75, or £3.50, they can keep it! A nice treat, but it won't be on the "must have" list.

Now that you've found it, you will want it again.

They often have deals on ready meals, keep an eye out.

And if not, swish your hair (l'oreal style) and say "because I'm worth it".

    I hate dressing gowns.

I just thought I'd mention that.

But what really profoundly upsets me is seeing a mismatched dressing gown tie to dressing gown.

Sorry, a bit random in context of conversation here

It was nice.... but not amazing.
I'll know, if I ever see it reduced again, that it's worth getting .... I'd not normally have touched it as £1.75's over my price-point for a meal.
