However, I have, in the last 2 years or so, started putting a small sprinkle of salt on spuds when I make them up for mashing. I, too, probably have "too little salt", if there is such a thing. Even the baked beans I prefer/choose when possible are "low sugar, low salt" varieties.
I never used to even have salt in the house. I've only got it now as I was trying out some "Internet DIY Miracle Cures" re my leg last year.
I don't add salt to my food either (though I do often use a bit of stock cube, which is salty too). I bought some in our old flat as I was 'refreshing' my ex's jacket (the collar faded so I was re-dying it black). When I moved in here I needed a new pepper mill, so I got a set in TX Maxx. I think I've used the salt mill about 5 times in 6 months (for cooking rather than at the table).0 -

Sainsbury's sell mature cheddar and black pepper ones (and spiced fruit ones) - I have a pack in the fridge which were bought yellow stickered (so on the bbe date) a week ago - they've been in the fridge since and are fine (had one yesterday). Depends how 'adventurous' you are with best before dates though... I think I'm a bit extreme.
Edit: I'm sure I've had cheese muffins from Tesco too. I like the savoury English muffins - esp with marmite
I've never seen a thing yellow stickered in Mr S 2 miles away.
I don't mind about BBE dates etc.... I'd eat them after the date, I check everything to see if it's green.... but, when buying, I have to assume the date's the date I have to eat it by, so I can evaluate how feasible it is to get through it "in time". If there's no chance ... I'd not buy; if it's physically possible to get through it all, I'll buy it .... and see what happens if I really don't get through it all.
I check in every supermarket for cheese/onion muffins ... however, I do find ath most shops run out of muffins/crumpets/similar early in the day and I am usually looking late in the day/evening, so maybe I've not seen the Tesco ones.... although I've not got a Mr T close to me so not been in one since last October.0 -

There are times when salt seems unavoidable...lots of Chinese recipes for example.
I have some salt set aside for dying too, I forgot that. I'm dying all my stained yard clothes black.0 -
It's a best before, not a use by. If you keep them in the fridge (do you have a fridge?) they'll be fine for at least a week.
Hi blin.
I'm 100% with you on this one, all our bakery products go straight in the fridge and only get binned if they get really stale or mouldy :eek:I think....0 -
Just checking mysupermarket - Mr S flavoured muffins are £1.25 for 4. My "usual" yardstick is 6 bog standard muffins at Lidl for 65p. So they're off the price radar.0

Parent eats bread daily. Dh and I find this kind of odd as we are so used not to. It also results in lots of wattage which drives me potty. The kepts birds benefit but its not good for them0
