I'd quite like homemade dishcloths for christmas, but maybe I'm odd...

Maybe you could make some of these too?

:) It's cute but would involve paying attention to what I'm knitting, and I knit as a form of meditation; am on Dishcloth 5 today.

A home-made dishcloth is something whose virtue and utitily you don't understand if you have only ever used shop-bought machine-made ones. Lovely things.

GQ, you could knit with both eyes shut and it'd still look better than anything I could knit!

I was sent some knitted facecloths a while back, as a lovely unexpected gift from an online friend. They're little squares of bliss to use and one of the best gifts I ever had.

I'm sure if you continue your meditation, someone would love one as a gift.

OK Catshark - you've started something here! Went off to get my bulbs & dig out some nice pots. Found some but they were shabby so DH had some nice red spray paint so I thought I'd spray the pots to go by the front door for Christmas. So far so good. One pot needed some TLC so couldn't plant till the sealant dried. Sooo ended up pruning the Wisteria on the back of the house BIG bag of prunings to go. Pots now sealed & painted & will plant up today (along with the 2 bags of 'bargain' Tulips I found...............;) ) Feeling good 'cos some essential work got done & 2 nice pots spruced up & useable again
    Have a good Sunday everyone

  • Fallen a long way behind here... in my defence, it's been a busy week. The next few days don't look too bad, then I have my last market before Christmas & can settle down to Christmas preps with all my business stuff tucked away. In theory... There'll be a couple of big-ticket items going on Ebay timed to finish next weekend, which will clear a lot of space, and probably a big giveaway mid-week too. Just hoping & praying that all things do remain equal for once. Even just a little bit equal!

:) Good work, one and all.

I've had an enforced internet abstinence for 30 hours but we're all mended now. I took two large bags of Stuff (in fabric) to the chazzer so hopefully they'll get them out in double-time. Have the place in a terrible tip, so tired I could cry (family health stress and sleep loss do to !!!!!! neighbours plus a tough workday and I feel a bit fragile).

:D I did eat some giant cookies (25p on YS) as a remedial measure but it'll be an early night for this tired little bunny.

ONWARDS!!!!!!! To [STRIKE]infinity[/STRIKE] or at least the back of the Cupboards of Doom, and beyooonnnnnnddd!

Not exactly de-hoarding but ... tulip bulbs planted up (used a different planter to the one I first thought of!) & pots now arranged on patio waiting for them to sprout so I shall have a lovely display for the spring (ever the optimist!!) Offer in the paper a couple of weeks ago for some Lombardy Poplars (tall thin ones) so split with DS1 & when they arrive - soon I hope - they will go in the red tubs underplanted with some cyclamens by the front door.
I got about 3m of curtain tape in my local hospice craft shop for 50p so I've finally managed to complete a small sewing job & the dining table is now clear of my machine and all the associated 'bits' & the floor swept of thread ends. I think I'll also take a look at the fabrics I have stashed & clear some out to the shop later this week. Off to clear out the cupboard under my basin in the bathroom - mainly to tidy & get a better semblance of order & see what stocks I've still got that need to be used up.

Big Hugs to you GQ - its a b***er when you don't get the sleep quota you need. I think the cookies count as 'medicinal purposes' in this instance ;)

  • Just reporting in - 3 large items removed from DS1's room today & taken down to one of my stalls. I'm sad to see them go - two carefully-collected Lloyd Loom bedside tables & a matching laundry bin, which I had planned to use in there when it's finally redecorated - but there's some floor visible now, and they'll fetch a fair bit more than I paid for them. I think I need to tackle the spare bedding next; to be honest there's enough there to kit out a small army.

Have also listed a lovely spinning wheel & matching chair on Eb*y, and will be listing a rigid-heddle loom (belonging to a friend, but here for the last 6 months!) on Rave1ry; more space created, hopefully.

:) Ooh, I used to have a tabletop 4-heddle loom, it was an 18th birthday present, sourced from a craftsman in Wales. I turned out to be less interested in handweaving than I thought I would be, it lurked for a good 15 years until a chance conversation with a friend-of-a-friend revealed that they had a friend wanting to buy one.

Upshot was, an exchange of phone numbers, the potentially-interested party calling me for more details then coming to buy it. Such a relief to get rid of it, and to know that it will go to someone who will use it.

I find it amazing that there are so many times when something has been rehomed thanks to casually talking about it. I guess a lot of us follow something like this sort of priorities when needing to give something away.; close family,.extended family, friends, colleagues, random acquaintances, freecycle?

Something strange is happening in my life - I'm developing tidiness. Such as enjoying having a 5 minute tidy-round before bedtime, and even putting things away when I have finished using them.

You won't tell anyone IRL, will you? A wumman could get a reputation if people knew she was tidy..........:rotfl:
