On the subject of heaters.. I bought 2 at the beginning of last winter.. 1 works fine, the other the fan thing seems to be out of line so it makes a dreadful noise.. I meant to send it back, I truly did.. it is still sat on my shelf.. dusty... I get it! I understand!

I have found a loving home for my fabric stash.. flingage at its best.. a whole cupboard full leaving the house.. now to decide what to store in the cupboard.. I think it may be pushchairs, vacuum cleaner and sewing machine.. I am overjoyed at the prospect of room!

treadle sewing machine should be going tomorrow too!!!!!!!!!!

    Well.That has been some day!:j
So,so pleased with my work today, and the end result.

Kitchen cleaned:all surfaces and tiling, windows, microwave.Didn't get around to declutter tops of cupboards, but all surfaces cleared.

Our dining room doubles as my partner's "office" (computer table:very cluttered,2 huge cupboards filled with clutter, but at least hidden by doors :D),huge wicker basket absolutely covered (and filled) with more of his tat.So really all I can do in there is wipe down table and chairs, remove random kids' bits that have made their way there, and vacuum.

Lounge room......This was my big project today.Am so pleased with it.It is the only room in this house that has been decorated in the 14 years we have lived here. And it is "my" space. And when we had it decorated (last July), I swore it was going to be kept minimalist.Well, with all my decluttering, sales, and sorting out the paper for my kitchen drawer, that has made a bad enough mess.Combined with kids home for the holidays, the place has been really bad.Well,I have fixed it.
I can't remember who was asking last week for "before " and "after" photos (Whitewing?,but I might be making that up).I did take some, but got to teach myself how to upload them :rotfl:.

Sometimes when I have these great tidy-ups,what ends up happening(especially with paper),is I file some things away, then too much stuff gets put aside to be dealt with later.Sometimes later never comes, sometimes it just takes a long time :o.
A few weeks later,I am faced with the same pieces of paper, still can't decide what to do with them, they gets set side for another time.......the cycle continues .So then I get to days like today, where I am filing/throwing out papers which are 18 months old!18 months of cluttering up my house before finally doing something with it 018.gif
Today I filed stuff I want to keep into the expanding folder I had bought, filed away kids drawings I want to keep(too many,I know),and their certificates from school.Filed bills, school reports in my hanging file unit.
Also cluttering up lounge room was 2 baskets of clean washing:all sorted and put away in drawers (not sorted and put on my bed to be put away later, which usually meant it would be moved to the side when we go to bed,and sit there for DAYS )
And 4 huge vacuum bags of clothes, and a large plastic box containing kid's clothes, that had been dragged down from the loft about a month ago,to start sorting through for donation.
Continuing the theme,I didn't just chuck the bags and boxes back into the loft:I sorted through all every piece of clothing and decided on the spot, what was to donate, what's to keep, what's for cash4clothes.
    Lounge then polished and vacuumed.

Then I moved upstairs.Kids are under threat of all things evil if they mess up their rooms too much,so only had to vacuum their (2) rooms, plus ours (Still didn't dust and polish windowsill with books on :o).On my bed there was a small bundle of papers to file in kids' "keep-boxes" in loft,so did that.

    Think that's all.

Oh,and inbetween all this I washed and hung out to dry, three loads of washing.Just one load of it to be put away before I go to bed.(The other 2 loads were put away as they came off line.Gave me a break from sorting papers)

    That's all.

(And for those interested,in all it took just under 5 hours to sort, declutter, tidy and clean, and just under an hour was spent putting on/unloading/hanging out/bringing in/putting away washing).About another 3/4 hour spent putting stuff away in the right place within the loft.

Just wish we could keep the place like this.I wish my family would just get into the habit of putting things away when finished with them, that I could keep ontop of paperwork.......

Well done all with your improvements and hard work recently.

I have managed to keep the kitchen clean with not one single pot!! I wash everything as soon as it is used and have so much space to actually cook. I am really thrilled with this and it has made much less work and stress for me.

Just need to sort out the rest of the house now

Well done everyone, so much great work going on at the moment, I think the sunshine helps!

Soft pad I am envious of your amazing washing up ethic. I think I should try it out! I usually leave all the washing up to DH but it does pile up.

Just did a big overhaul of my baking cupboard. Got rid of out of date things and broken things and put pretty labels on all my jars of decanted things. Feel much better about it now (did my mum's last week and then came back and looked at my own and decided it needed a once over too). I had 3 piping syringes, none of which really fit my needs. One had a missing part (the bit that plunges it), another only had two nozzles that fit and the third is fine really I just hate the look of it - old Brown and yellow coloured plastic. Anyway, I've binned the one with the missing part, have donated the one with two nozzles and kept the functioning one (with the aim on keeping an eye out in the charity shop for a nicer one).

DH and I decluttered the box of grass seed onto the front garden at the weekend. Am so pleased to have it done, it was such a long process preparing the soil. We are now left with huge piles of mossy turf sods which DH sliced off the front 'lawn' as it was 90% moss! Managed to get rid of some of it on freegle but am a bit worried about how we're going to get rid of the rest of it. DH says we're not allowed to take soil to our recycling centre. Am going to call them today because it can't stay in our back garden.

Thank you to everyone who posts, reading everyday keeps me motivated!

Definitely call the recycling centre/tip about the soil because they may take some free from householders but not from businesses etc. It's worth asking.

If we have a small amount of weeding, we have chucked that in a food bag and the food bin and never had trouble getting that taken away but that is tiny quantities obviously.

Thanks whitewing, I actually decided to bag some of the mossy turf up and took it down to the dump. I put it in the garden waste recycling and no one complained! It is garden waste after all, it's just there's soil attached to the moss, but it should be fine. There are two large mounds of mossy turf staring at me from the garden so I am going to keep bagging it up and taking it over. Bit by bit I will get there in the end!

Am now watching the chickens scratching around in the garden with a well earned cuppa. Quite pleased with my progress today.

Well done for doing all that sorting pigpen, I hope you find your bed before bedtime!

ooh, great things going on around the country.

I've made a list, I've got so many things half done/that need doing that I'm constantly noticing them and making a mental note to get them done, at the same time running through everything else- it's exhausting trying to keep a mental list, and doesn't actually get anything done LOL.

it's stupidly simple to right it down, but hey ho - I've got there now. The list includes big things (finish emptying loft) and small things (use up nearly empty toothpaste tubes...) so that I can pick something and cross it off and feel like I'm getting somewhere.

been lovely in the garden - pigpen your tree is smashing. we have bluebells, peonies, bleeding hearts and apple blossom.

am back to work as now better so hopefully at the weekend can potter about a bit and cross off some more.
    :AA/give up smoking (done) :)

Thank you. Its the first time I have kept it up tbh, pots and keeping the kitchen clean is something I really have struggled with in the past but am determined not to let it slip. So so much easier.
