Another gig happily completed. Dd has been offered an informal position as official cake baker to a motley crew of musicians
because they like her baking.
That extra space, by the way, my mother hated it, for example, telling me to get a load if bookcases and put them along the wall in my 3 foot 8 wide landing. Where they would block 18" of the bathroom and bedroom doors. Because it was too bare if you could walk normally instead of shuffling or squeezing through things.
So just allow yourself to feel anxious, it's a normal reaction when making big changes, and you will grow accustomed to it without having to plan putting Stuff in the gapI could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Sarah that is amazing well done!
Pigpen it's hard to de Richard with small people isn't it? My lot are slowly learning with our guidance but its ard when I feel like I'm just learning myself! They came into our room this morning and had a great fun 20 mins defacing Saturdays guardian....they then tried to leg it off for breakfast leaving said guardian shredded all over our room. It was DH that got them back and got them to tidy it up.
Dd#1 (15) has obviously been inspired by my work with declut....Jenny and was really interested in the box system (charity, recycle, rubbish, redistribute) and her room is now unrecognisable! I might see if I can interest the boys (9&8) in an attempt at this in their room.....
I still have loads to eBay BUT I am furious with eBay at the mo for deciding in the favour of the £1.04 coat buying saga and refunding them without even giving me the chance to provide proof of posting etc. grrrrr. Am going to fish out only guaranteed high selling items and take rest to car boot when the weather eventually brightens up....Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

I need to read back a bit, but just came to say that we've made a start on our home. Yesterday DH started the front room, it's hoovered, toys fairly tidy (although still too many!), ironing all in one spot and the equivalent of 3 bin bags of junk for the tip. I know this doesn't sound like much, but the WHOLE house needs serious attention, we're almost good candidates for a hoarding/cleaning tv programme!:rotfl:
Bin bags are on my list for today, also DH is getting some large storage boxes for toys, craft stuff, etc. If I can do at least one little job each day, or a couple of big ones each week, I'll be content with that for now. I have been recently diagnosed with severe depression, and not sure if that came before the mess or after, but it's definitely made things worse over the last few years. I have to actually make myself do things that I used to want to do, but I'm fed up with mess in my home (and in my head!), so I'm convinced that this year will be the one I get to grips with everything!

Struggling here with mood, motivation, time, everything. I just don't have the brain capacity to think about it at the mo. eldest dds room remains half painted *sigh* I'm still in bed (with youngest dd rare opportunity for a wee snuggle)
Have to leave for work around 12.30 so one part of me is thinking why bother pushing myself and the other part is thinking what I can squeeze in before then....No more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Mar 2014. INS: lost count, naughty step for me! UU: 80 -
I've just cleared my settee arm of toot. And binned most of it, as it was just total junk...
which has been settled nicely there for ages. I got annoyed with it, you shouldn't have to clear a space to put your cup down!
Have also rehomed my shoes which appeared to be migrating downstairs, back to where they should be.0 -
Well done purple-sarah, it's made a big difference!
Idris, you've turned a corner, you can now see the small steps back to clutter and taking the right approach in stopping it happening. How lovely to have all the space in your bedroom again0 -
sarah, that's great.
I will reiterate something that took me ages to learn: that the less actual stuff there is in the house, the easier it is to keep tidy. It really makes such an enormous difference.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Omg just watching OCD cleaners- with the body builder? I'm finding it very hard going. The lady is so childlike with all her soft toysHave nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

I don't watch them.
But my mother was/is very infantile where stuff like that was concerned - but thinking about it, she does tend to act very 'cute' and little and defenceless where men are concerned.
The toys she has accumulated, the videos, DVDs and 'things' with cute characters on them would keep in with that, I suppose.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
