Why do you find Xbox better? My draw to ps3 is that the service is free whereas I'd have to pay for it with Xbox. Please respond to mine and others' posts with courtesy and kindness- and I will not deliberately disrespect you. Down with the trolls!0 -
What absolute Tosh, give this a read through before believing mis-information..
http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/check-if-you-need-one/However, if you have a Freeview capable TV, then you are 'going equipped' and liable for prosecution. You may never watch live broadcasts, but there is an expectation you will. If it ever came to court, it will depend on your credibility of the denial before the judge. If the TV (or other connected device) has no tuner, then this does not arise.0 -
most blu ray players are now "smart"
you can get netflix and iplayer on players for about £69 far cheaper than xbox or ps3 - no subscription needed either0 -
Thank bubba- some of the working second hand ps3s are about £70 on amazon. Would you recommend any blueray players in particular? Please respond to mine and others' posts with courtesy and kindness- and I will not deliberately disrespect you. Down with the trolls!0

That's not to say that the agents won't try it on because of this - bit it'd never even see the inside of a courtroom. Simply ignore then or tell them once clearly in writing that you don't need a TV licence because you do not watch live TV and no further communications will be entered into.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0 -
Far more expensive than the £69 mentioned, but thoroughly recommended for picture, sound and internet connectivity;Would you recommend any blueray players in particular?

Thanks for the suggestion moneyineptitude- that looks very fancy. A little over the current budget so I'll have a scout and see if I can find it second hand cheaper. Please respond to mine and others' posts with courtesy and kindness- and I will not deliberately disrespect you. I had a cheap Panasonic Blu-Ray player prior to the Sony and the internet would only ever intermittently connect. The final straw was the disc drawer refusing to open. Thanks for the suggestion moneyineptitude- that looks very fancy. I do think you get what you pay for.
Here's Amazon's second hand offers on the Sony:

I'm sure you'll see it even cheaper on E-Bay etc.0 -
If only products received consistently good/ bad reviews it'd be much easier to make a decision. Please respond to mine and others' posts with courtesy and kindness- and I will not deliberately disrespect you. Down with the trolls!0
