Ripped off via Gumtree (2)

Hi, I am another victim please I really need your advice..
Ripped off on Gumtree last Wednesday .. I contacted the seller via email for an IPad 3 32GB and he gave me his phone number, so my husband phoned him, he provided a faraway location to ours. I was surprised when my husband offered the payment via bank transfer.. I was really stupid because I didn't stop him n only wanted the IPad.
The guy sent his full name and full bank details quickly. He asked us to text him the address which we did. And he said DHL booked for 2pm. everything was perfect.
We phoned him at 4pm he said the parcel will be with u at 5pm tomorrow..
We waited for sure nothing has arrived we phoned him and texted him no response.
The following day which was yesterday my husband went to the local police with all our evidences they said " we cannot deal with it is your problem and the website" we called Gumtree they said nothing to do with us you have to call the police.
Called the police 101 they took all the information basically to call us back... nothing!!!!
To be honest, my husband said just leave it we have learnt not to be stupid. But because I know how much time it took us to save £250 I want really our money back bearing in mind that the scammer has my address and name.
Any advice will be appreciated.

I have found it in other forum
1/ message him that the police will be contacted, and some kind of "online fraud prevention team" will be dealing with it unless he pays you back...
worth a go, hard luck though.
2/just quick post...
stuck an ad on gumtree saying this muppet ripped me off and his details and left him a voicemail basically sayin see you in court... and guess who rang the next day with the usual "my phone got stolen and i lost your number BUDDY"
got money back yesterday.0 -
Have a look at this and tell me what do you think shall I do the same or no?

I wouldn't get your hopes up. Some anonymous "victim" may have posted a message on Gumtree and got their money back (or may just be trolling), it doesn't mean you will.
The scammer who caught you is obviously prolific - you only have to enter the phone number on Google to show the number of adverts they have. They will be untraceable (and know it) - and possibly abroad, so will not be worried by your threats of police and court.0 -
got money back yesterday.
So why post at 1.46 today to ask for help?

I haven't received any money yet ...please read what I wrote before throwing accusations. I am not wasting anyone's time here because I have got a serious problem.. thanks for your efforts anyhow.0 -
It is extremely unlikely that you can get your money back.
You have given it to a professional criminal who probably makes thousands of £ a day putting fake ads in gumtree.
It really is common sense not to give large sums of money to someone you have never met, whom you know nothing about, just because they post ads in gumtree.0 -

you are absolutely right I have learnt the lesson.. I am just surprised what is the role of the police here.. isn't to protect people from such scammers.. I have got his correct details full name, bank account and all the evidence of the crime..0
