My large breasts and me.............

I only watched this programme the other night and I could relate to some of the problems mentioned.
I went to M&S 10 years ago to get measured and came out none the wiser. I had 6 staff measure me, no two sizes were the same, (not one of them fitted, I looked totally squashed in all the bra's I was given). Their advice was to wear what I had been wearing as they had never came across anything like me before! (nice eh)
So for 10 years I have wore a 34DD, but of late I have been suffering terrible back and neck pain and really bad headaches. On seeing that not everybody is as shambolic as M&S, I went to John Lewis to get measured.
It seems that I am a 36FF
I feel like a freak, can't get clothes to fit me properly (weird shape: big bust, little waist, big hips so nothing fits me. I always have a baggy waist area and if I wear clothes to define my waist, I am just putting these bazoomas on show.
What do you do to overcome this? I tend to think I look a show in things that other people say really suit me and the things I feel comfortable in, people say they nothing for me.
I just feel like a freak, I want to wear nice clothes and have pretty girly bra's, instead of hiding myself away and wearing granny bandages!
36-24-42 (now this is not the norm with FF to boot)

Hi specialK,
I've moved your thread over to the Health and Beauty board where hopefully you'll get more replies.

SpecialK - for someone who's a G (yes G) cup I can totally understand your dilemma. Even when I was at my lightest I was a DD and looked as though I was about to topple over. I actually found if I wore something more fitted it was more flattering. I used to be careful though not to wear anything too low cut as I wasn't comfortable with it. With regard to nice underwear the ranges are getting better. John Lewis have a nice selection and see if you can get near a Bravissimo as they specialise for bigger breasted women.
I've found that M&S's bras just don't fit or give me the support
hthSo little money - so much time :mad:0 -
38FF here - for years I slopped around uncomfortably in M&S, then one day I discovered Rigby & Peller and have never looked back. Their bras are pricy but so comfortable.Nelly's other Mr. Hyde0

Hi
Definately go to bravissimo, or the website. I am 32H luckily in pregnancy and after they only went up 1 cup size, and thankfully didn't sag after breast feeding for a short while. No matter how much weight i ever put on or lose my cup size only reduces but 1. I only wear size 12 tops as i have a small back. Thankfully I have always had good fitting bras so don't really suffer from a bad back but once you find a bra that fits properly you will notice the difference in how your body shape looks under clothes. bravissimo also make tops, dresses, jackets that accommodate for big boobs. they're not the cheapest but most definately worth the money.Fight for clean hospitals, C-DIFF takes lives

Hi Special
I felt just like you about my 34G bust till I discovered Bravissimo! They have loads of pretty bras and matching pants, swimming costumes and tops made to accomodate the extra shape without longer arms etc. You can order stuff and send it back till you get the right size - they are brill. I have a nightmare with tops because I have to buy a size 18 - 20 to accomodate the boobs but my bottom half is only a size 12. I agree that fitted tops don't make you look so big, v necks seem to be more flattering than high or round ones, and i find the balconette bras make me a nicer shape, once I got over the idea that I had them resting on a shelf just under my chin! However that depends on your shape, whether that style will suit you or not. It took me 40 years to get used to the fact that I couldn't hide them so I might as well make them look as nice as I could. I'm not saying flaunt them but the baggier the top, the bigger you look I find. Anyway, good luck!Friday April 9th 2010 the day I become Mrs Jones!

Hi Special K,
I've just come back from my local ASDA and saw their "Katie Price" range. Loads of them in the sales section. Maybe worth having a look. They were all very pretty and sexy - Jordan style I guess. Size-wise, it start from D cup to gigantic!0 -
once you have your bra's sorted out, it might be an idea to find a Trinny and Susannah book in your library (or similar type of book) as they advise on how to dress to hide/enhance certain parts of your body...my mum found it really useful after she lost lots of weight and didn't really know what to be looking for with her new shapeOne thing...that sets pulses racing...that gets hearts pounding...for which there is no substitute...only YOU can provide...blood.
Only 5% of the eligible population give blood: do something amazing today, save a life, give blood0 -
I have big boobs too - I'm currently a 36G or GG and at my slimmest (size 10) only went down to a FF.
I was supposed to get a breast reduction on the NHS but the surgeon changed her mind at the last minute and at the moment I'm peased that I didn't have it done!
I can recommend https://www.brastop.com for pretty larger cup size bras at much cheaper prices - I think they are last season designs but there are loads to choose from.
I don't bother hiding my boobs anymore - I don't see why I should have to and end up looking fat.
I go for stretchy tops - t-shirts and jumpers and a vest top underneath if I think they show too much cleavage. That is what Trinny and Susanna recommend in their book - v-necks and a camisole/vest top.
When I was younger lads would comment loudly about them in public and I hated it but with a 6' 4" husband in tow this doesn't happen too much now. Women are a nightmare though...why do women in Tesco's/walking down the street/doctors waiting room etc. give me evil looks as though because I have a large chest I have every intention of stealing their husband/boyfriend???!!!
I know what you mean about feeling like a freak - I used to cry about it all the time when I was younger but just by the responses on this thread you can see that you are not the only one - at least we are all about a womanly as you can get! There is a song called 'Real Live Woman' I think it's by Trisha Yearwood - a great song to listen to when you're feeling down about your body.0 -
Thank you for all your replies, I appreciate all your advice.
Just need to get a whole new wardrobe now (this is for health reasons...right)
I was wondering were the Katie Price range was being sold, they look really girly), I will look at the other places too. (I will have to go to OH for extra pocket money, he will benefit from them too)
I like the ideas of clothes too, I'm 28 but for the last 12 years I have not been able to shop in the high street for anything. Fed up of my mates just getting what they like, I have more of a torture experience, trying on loads and getting nothing.
It's nice to know there are others in the same boat, my friends all say I have robbed theirs!
Hopefully I will have a good summer, with good bra's and good clothes.
Thank you so much, you have all gave me something to think about!!
I did not even think of a book:happyhear We are not put on this earth for ourselves, but are placed here for each other.

I'm the same age but bigger than you, gets annoying having to pay usually £30 + for a bra. Unfortunately I have seen the advertising and the Katie Price range only go to an F, no good for me. I usually stick to Debenhams, House of Fraser and Sadies. Yet to try Bravissimo but someone said there is one opened in Newcastle. As for the other sizes being an issue, I've been down to a size 8 waist with a HH chest, one thing I found I had to avoid was a dress, looked like a tent on me, apart from one I got which was extremely clingy and gave that Jessica Rabbit effect :rotfl: had to feel very daring to wear that. Rigby & Peller something I have never heard of, will look that one up.One day I might be more organised...........
