Well, if they do I will definitely have a look at ebid. So many sellers are looking for an alternative, ebid are definitely missing a trick if they don't capitalise on this opportunity
I'm happy for other sellers to go where they like. The buyers will still be on Ebay and Amazon.

Ebid need a massive overhaul to be anything other than what they are. It seems they do relatively well with their status and they have had several opportunities to improve on the back of disgruntled Ebay sellers and not done so.

You are right RFW, they have had better chances than this to make even the slightest dent in buying practices with no success. I am actually looking at an off line venture at the moment

I must admit to keep seeing off line opportunities, I'm resisting for now. Hope yours works out well.

I hope they improve the showing of the pictures. Ebay really lags behind nearly every other shopping site, in that the standard pictures a relatively small and there's generally only one. Look on any other shopping site, you get many really good high resolution pictures that are easily zoomable. Ebay is not good in comparison
  • Ebid's website is shocking...

I like the "no borders or artwork" side of things. I hate looking for a small item, a cable or charger or something for a laptop or phone and loads of images from China or wherever have a massive yellow border around it to try and make it stand out. Rather have a better image of the actual item.

In regard to eBid, I sell on eBay now and then but never list on eBid purely because I feel I'll be wasting my time as there isn't a big enough crowd who actually use it so although I wouldn't lose any money I would lose my time in putting the items on there.

Do any of us think Ebid will sieze the opportunity to relaunch properly in the UK and attract buyers as well as sellers, or will it stay dead in the water?

Ebid's business model appears to me to rely on selling 'lifetime no fees' packages rather than actually getting sales commison - I pay no fees on Ebid - because I've never sold anything! and it seems that I get one or two views per item if lucky.

I'm pleased with the new free photos - surely it will help to sell items more easily?

Actually I fear you might have the answer. :(

I am one of those foolish enough to have bought a lifetime membership and then manage to sell maybe 1 item a year if I am very lucky. Overall I basically gave them a load of money, and have recieved nothing in return. pound for pound they have been a thousand time more expensive for me than ebay. A business model of getting people to take out expensive lifetime packages would be a good earner- they then have to do nothing at all, just wait for more gullible sellers, like me, to hand over their money.

I am stubborn though, I refuse to believe I was stupid enough to hand over all that money for nothing so still list there.

I just wondered if this time they might.....sigh, no you're right, I am being naive again to hink this might make any difference.

I don't know too much about Ebid, but my guess is they are as big as they want to be. The only chance of them getting bigger is if some bigger company wanted to take them over and expand.
