Far better to draw this to the attention of the police than to have life-long regrets that you didn't.0 -
I'm not entirely sure that the "illustrated man" levels of tattooing tie in with the idea that this man and his parents might be at the fanatical end of the Jehovah's Witnesses spectrum.
It seems more like a contradiction.
If I was one of the few people who knew that an unstable control freak was stockpiling weapons, preparing for the end of the world (in secret), and planning to build a shack and a tank in the woods before the apocalypse hits...
I think I'd be asking the police to check him out. Just in case he took it into his head to silence anyone who might give away his plans.
If I knew that one of other 'few' who knew was my own son, I'd be even more proactive in trying to get the nutter sorted out by the police.
Maybe I've been reading too much Dean Koontz too.0 -

And this one

My Dad clay pigeon shoots. As thorsoak says there are rules surrounding gun ownership in the U.K. My Dad has to have a letter from his GP saying he is 'sane' (I don't know the exact terminology used) has to store his gun/s seperately to his ammunition and the safe the gun is held in has to be secured to an outside wall (as in not attached to solely internal wall, I don;'t mean on the outside of the house). The police have checked he is adhering to the rules before now, though I think that was due to it being x amount of time since he'd had a licence or he was renewing it rather than a a spot check. In the decade+ my Dad has gone shooting, I think I've seen his gun once when it was out for cleaning. There is no reason for them to be 'on display'.
I don't know the legislation relating to air guns but there will certainly be some. Call into or ring the police and state your concerns.0 -
Also just to add, handguns are banned in the UK and have been for some time so if he has one of these he is likely to be holding it illegally.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
I am completely taking on board everything you all are saying, just how many guns would be a worry or illegal? Is just the fact of the boy having the gun in his room cause enough?
I believe he has at the least a shotgun, pistol and air rifle the knives are hung on the wall as 'decoration' but they are all knives at the end of the day, oh god what an awful position to be in, if I say nothing and something awful happens I will never ever forgive myself but what if I am wrong and it is a catalyst for something bad?
What do you think "bad" will happen if you discuss the situation with the police? If Jill's husband is normal and not doing anything wrong then no harm can come of him being checked out, surely? If he isn't normal and/or is doing something wrong then it is better that he is checked out sooner rather than later. Please stop prevaricating and go to your local police station.[0 -
I don't understand your problem. You're a parent and your children are around a clearly dangerous situation. It's very simple, isn't it? Jill is a grown woman who is responsible for herself. You need to be a parent and protect your children even if it upsets them temporarily. Keep them away from this family entirely. And report this maniac to the police. Be sure to tell Jill the reasons for you no longer allowing your children near hers. Show her what a parent is meant to do so she can no longer pretend to live in ignorance of the potential danger of her husband (and her) actions.
Or you can just wait until he goes off on one and ends up killing Jill, his kids and maybe yours if he's decided that they need saving before the apocalypse comes.0 -

This guy sounds like a total headcase!
While I agree with the above I'd be wary of reporting him to the police AND telling Jill your kids won't be visiting due to her nutjob husband...report and wait!Just to be on the cautious sideIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
Having been on the periphery of a very serious incident, this thread caused me considerable concern. It is worrying that there has been no update.
OP, what have you done?. . .I did not speak out
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me..

The OP is posting regularly on lots of other threads, so clearly she's no longer worried about this one..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
