It seams vinegar is far more useful than I gave it credit for, I will definalty try it for limescale - we get it round the tape in the bathroom and that is not easy to remove.

I have found another thread on this site dedicated to stardrops and its miraculous properties, has anyone here tried it? pros and cons? must confess its not something I have seen before.

LottiesMum, i must admit i'm not a fan of vinegar as i cant stand the smell. I do put a few drops in the bucket when i do the kitchen floor as it cuts through grease and dirt better than just using floor cleaner alone.

Stardrops... grab yourself a bottle its good stuff. I used to use it but dont go into Asda very often and i havent replaced the bottle i used. I love it on the cooker, the enamel shines!

Tea went down well. I didnt burn anything and the chicken was cooked to perfection.:T
'Youngest' has gone out on his skateboard, so it looks as though i'm on my own this evening.

Eldest daughter and her partner in South Africa have had a lovely day. It was their foster childs first birthday today and they have had a big party for him. Poor little mite, he's always ill. His Mother was a heavy drug user/prostitute and he was born prematurely resulting in him having a very weak chest.

Now to see whats on the telly... later friends :)

    Evening all
DS came round this, evening he's a bit down, he's had his hours halved, he was told at 2 this afternoon, by the time he arrived at mine he'd put his CV into 15 companies, I hope he finds something soon. I made him stay for tea, sausage & mash.
Busy at work, what with exams, reviews etc.
    Have a good evening everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Evening All

We cannot say we have had a MS or even much of an OS day today. It started well enough with 2 loads of washing on the line, it was bright and a bit breezy, so did take some of the damp out of them, but then had to bring them in before we sent out so they are ether on the airer in the conservatory, or on the bathroom radiator(jeans).
We had been throwing around ideas about car(s) currently we have a 4WD for the caravan, which while not bad MPG for a 4WD isn't as good as some of the more recent ones, so was trying to decide do we swop the 4WD or get a second car, costing less, low road tax, and almost double MPG for our trips to Spain. Decided to go and have a look, fatal isn't it, we have ordered a Kia Ceed, should be picking it up on Friday or before. Had to rush back for Skye as we had been longer then anticipated, and then pop to Asda for our prescriptions, as I needed one tablet I had run out of, by this time it was 7pm so F&C for dinner.:o:o:o:eek::eek: DH has brought the handbook home, and is reading it from cover to cover, keeping him quiet!!:D:D
Still have loads of washing to catch up with, will do another load tomorrow, as the weather is not forecast very good, and then hopefully get the caravan bedding done on Thursday which has a better forecast.
I have to admit managing my prescriptions via Asda is very good, I can organise them to put them in just before returning, so they are ready for us, and I can do this via the phone if I need something I haven't organised, and they are always very pleasant and helpful.

Lolttiesmum Yes Stardrops is very good, be a little careful if your hands are sensitive, as it can be a litle hard on them, so if you are wear rubber gloves. One of the cleaners OS coms up with is to fill a spray bottle with one third Stardrops, one third White Vinegar, and the final third water, and use it as any spray cleaner. DH swears by it :A:A Going back to when our DS was a baby (some 28 years ago) I think I used to swear by Ariel, with a bar of Vanish soap (or Sunlight Soap) to rub onto the stains before washing. I have also used washing up liquid rubbed into the stains before washing as I find that can lift stains too.

I also used to permanently use my TD, but retiring, changing from an separate TD to a washer/dryer and the outrageous cost of electric these days, has altered my thinking, and now it is a one or twice a year force put for undies only. It seems to crease my clothes far more than my separate one did.

Good news for your DD Elona have they found out what it was yet?

    Hilly Please be careful.

LW Certainly will give Skye a hug from you, she does get plenty I can assure you, though I think she is a Daddy's little girl.

HH. Hope your DS can find something soon.

    Take care everyone, DG

    Evening all,

Sorry I missed posting yesterday, not feeling too good just now. Long story short, I have had to go from the docs to the dentist, backwards and forwards with sinus and teeth trouble, culminating in a root canal this afternoon. Totally fed up with the lot. Have no faith the filling will cure the issues but we shall see.
I am another who swears by the combination of vinegar and start drops and water. It is great stuff and can be used for anything, I am in total agreement with Mr DG. Mines another household where all the men can turn their house to any household task just as well as I can. My fella is great at cleaning and washing, far better than me:cool: take note Mr Halight, woman's work indeed!
Still managed to work today, and earn a good days money. Found it tough being in the cold all day, could feel myself stiffening up. I daren't sit down until we were driving back. Struggled to get out of the car and into the house, with my knee, back and one thing and another, oh hum. Strong Ibrufen is the only thing helping my knee just now.
Enough of my ailments there are people much worse off. Big hugs for anyone in need. Will pop in tomorrow, night x

  • Lottiesmum. Sorry if I'm being a bit dim but what exactly is the stain? I would advise that whatever you try, you do it with cool water as, if your first attempt fails, you can then try something else. Unfortunately, washing something in hot water (or tumble drying) when the stain is not removed will 'set' it into the fabric and it's there for good.

Had a busy day today - we have no lunch break at work on a Tuesday (even though my contract specifies a one-hour lunch break every day) as we have a "working lunch" (apparently). It is wrong, and they ARE diddling more work out of us, but I just sty quiet as I really don't need the hassle at the moment.

Tonight we went to see an amateur dramatic presentation of "Edge of Darkness" at the Community Centre, with the emphasis on amateur - still it was enjoyable, thank goodness for the prompter (who certainly earned their keep tonight) and bravo to the whole cast - because it is certainly something that I would NEVER have the guts to do. Hats off to them. :T

I got a £50 cheque in the post from EDF by way of apology today so I will skip along to the bank tomorrow - on my way to post a few more eBay sales.

Tomorrow night is e WI Darts Final. I fear that my beginners luck from last week will have truly worn off by now! Not so much a "Secret Weapon" as "Lead Balloon". I am not nervous. I am not nervous. I am not nervous.

    Evening everyone

Late again, been quite busy today. Worked full day today then started cleaning after the 2 dogs when I got in. DS2 wanted to do some more cooking and as I am trying to keep him off all electrical stuff we made a batch of cakes as well as him helping dh make lasagne for dinner. Cleaned windows and mirror in bathroom and cleaned windowsills and sink. Trying to do a bit each day so I dont have to spend all weekend cleaning.

Lottiesmum I would try cold water with vanish soap on the stain. give it a good rub together and perhaps leave to soak for a little while, usually when washed after that it gets most out.
Julie67 - Hope your pain eases.

Sorry my mind has gone blank, think its time I said goodnight and get myself to bed. ((hugs)) to anyone that needs/wants one.
