O/S Daily Tuesday 19th March

Options
O/S Daily Tuesday 19th March This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well”

    Morning all:j:j

Heavy rain here at the moment

Up early here. I woke up at just after 4:00am Could not get back off.

No real plans for today, Normal tidying up.
I need to pop to a shop at some point as there are a few things we are Running out of.

I might have a god at sorting that pots and pan's black hole out, I keep meaning to have a go at it. I'm quite quite sure there may be a monster Living in th back of it or something of the like.

Sinner last night was Pork with Homemade BBQ sauce. Cooked with pepper, Onion,Tom's Mushrooms,
And a tin of carrots, Served with rice.,

Talking about Tinned carrot's, We don't use a lot of Tinned veg here. Most of our is fresh or frozen.
But Like many people we also keep some tinned stuff In the house Just In case.

We a few moths ago,. i got sent to Aldi. It was before Christmas, I had my list of things to buy but like many people never stick too it! I came across Aldi Tinned Veg. Ever even looked at it before as its not something we buy much of. Anyway. I found these carrot's, You can get sliced at 17p a Tin and baby carrot's at 20 odd pence a tin.
We at 17p I decided to give them a go. And I have too say I'm very impressed with them. If you are someone that buys tinned veg a lot you really will not go wrong with giving these ago.
Ok they don't taste like they have Just come from the farmers market, But nothing In supermarkets dose. To get that you have to buy from the farmers market to get that real strong fresh taste. But for the price and the guilty are the item. Then a real good deal. They do other Tinned veg too. We tried there cheep peas, While they were OK, The There Garden pea a few pence more are a lot better and wroth spending the extra few pence on.

There that's HALIGHT's Top Tip of the day. Aldi's Tinned carrot's

Well i hope that you all have a great day,

    Enjoy :j:j

    Morning

Looks very icy here, off to work in a few mins , won't finish till 6 so hoping DH will do the dinner

Pulled a muscle in my shoulder I think , it's really, painful I was taking ibuprofen but it gave me indigestion, so I used a hot water bottle on it instead last night But its no better :(

Have a good day everyone. , keep warm xx
  • Good morning everyone :)

Gosh it's freezing here today and the car is thick in ice again.

We have several black holes in this house but I think the large cupboard under the stairs is the worst. It's on my list to tackle and it may be a major expedition.

Sistercas, did you try a glass of milk before your ibuprofen? They can be very irritating to the gut, like all NSAIDs, and should always be taken after food. You could always try the gel but not at the same time as the oral.

Work head off and speaking of which, I better ready and get there!

Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need them or just want them. Keep warm, safe and well and have a super day :)

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Good Morning all another grey day here in north Kent I think I have seen all 50 shades of grey in the skies just lately :):) please can we have some blue for a change :):)
Well back to normal today, and school run this morning.Had a great day with my old friend yesterday we sat and jawed the hind leg of a donkey. Her DD is just starting to show her bump, and is only 10 weeks last Friday. So every Friday she is a week nearer to her babies.my friend is excited but also worried as her DD is 41 and its possibly her one and only chance at motherhood.I said well shes now a quarter of the way through so we have everything crossed for her.

just looked out the window and its very foggy outside and just grey gloomy and 'orrible.Still soon be easter and the children will be off for a fortnight from school.I do hope it brightens up a bit by then.
Right time I got a wriggle on and had a shower.Tonights dinner will be sausage mash and veggies as I had some lovely gloopy gravy left over from my beef casserole that I starined off and have in a jug in the fridge.I had three portions of beef and veg casserole left over which went into the freezer last night so lots of 'instant dinners' in there for me
Take care everyone and hopefully have a good day,
Budget day tomorrow I wonder what we will have extra to pay,I hope not as much as the folk in Cyprus
    Cheers chums

    Morning All,

I don't if I'm doing the right thing as the post was on yesterdays thread but its today IYSWIM, but here goes I just wanted to ssay thanks to Save-a- holic for her post regarding my menu planning etc. In answer to her suggestion of me joining the GC I have looked at this but was unsure if I had the discipline to post that much info, my thoughts were I will try myself and see if I fail I will join. I just wanted to say thanks again.

It is snowing a wee bit here not looking like sticking though. Not going out today though have lots of housework to catch up on including washing I think this will have to go on the radiators later though. Another challenge I have set myself is no to use the TD unless no choice (OH uniform maybe). I have to confess before my conversion (or in my ignorance) I was one of these people who said " I never dry clothes on radiator / airier I hate to see it that's what I have the TD for" -hangs head in shame-.

Another first for me if babs allows, I found a recipe for lemon drizzle cake on here and am going to try and bake one bare in mind my ex husband was a fantastic cook and I never even boiled potatoes in my previous life as I like to call it. I have now started cooking from scratch with the help of never opened recipe books and feel I may of found my new hobby I love it.

Hugs and best wishes to all who need them.

I really have to check the length of my posts you guys seams to be able to say so much in so little words.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Light cloud, bit of blue sky peeking out, frosty and dry here this morning.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was delicious smoked sausage pasta with creme fraiche sauce, and dessert from the tins/fridge for those that wanted. Tonight will be omlettes, menfolk will have theirs with chips, I will have salad with mine.

As expected yesterday was complete "mahem" we didn't stop all day, had a queue of people waiting at reception virtually all day and most of the time 3 or 4 waiting to be seen by advisors with longer queries aswell. Got home last night and had a bad head - brought on by not stopping enough didn't get time for a break in the morning or afternoon but do have a water bottle on my desk which I drink from as and when needed, it was just relentless - I was chatting to one of my colleagues as we left work last night and we both feel that this is how it will be from now on as there's so many changes to benefits etc being brought in - people are all coming in saying we're struggling now how are we supposed to manage on having less coming in and paying more out? I didn't need much rocking to get to sleep when I went to bed last night - that's for sure! Hoping today will just be a little less busy although the day flew past!

    Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and another murky old day it is.

I was saying yesterday that I'm not in the mood yet to start thinking about working on the garden, but a start will be made today. Shortly I've got a chap arriving who's going to cut back some of the larger shrubs in the garden.

While he's doing that, I'll probably have a rummage and tidy of a couple of kitchen cupboards and may even look in the cupboard under the stairs.

Hopefully, the guy won't take too long to do the work, so after that I'll have a fairly free day, so will do some extra reading.

Dinner is the other half of a shepherds pie from the freezer, so there's not too much in the way of cooking to do either.

    Have a good day.
